Anthony Black would feel like a gut punch, taller Elfrid Payton.

I’ll probably be wrong, but to me it doesn’t seem like there is a guy outside of Grady Dick, that could really help us outside of the top 4. So I think we need to move up or try and grab a vet with the picks.

I dont think Dick is good enough defensively, he doesnt have the raw tools.
Black at tleast have chance to be a good rotational player. Maybe he can learn a set shot like Wiggins.
You need to be as good as MPJ offensively and have a defender like AG next to you to go far into the playoffs
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Anyone else start to feel like they would prefer Hawkins to Dick? I know he isn’t as tall but damn that movement shooting would be such an asset to this team and his lateral defense is pretty good he busts his ass. If his creation gets a better which there is some good signs of that with his elite shooting he could really pop. He isn’t really terrible for anything and their are positive signs with his swing skills.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Paolo is 20, Franz is 21. I hate to break it to you, but in all likelihood nothing's gonna put us in contention for another 4 years or so, at least. I want to add key veterans (or at least a key veteran) this offseason too, don't get me wrong. But having good assets on rookie deals, with lots of years of team control, is still a good thing.

I don't think we're wasting anything UNLESS they start trading guys and replacing them with two rookies this year, imo. I don't think that will be the case though. They'll probably get minutes slowly but it'll be different from Banchero/Wagner, even Suggs rookie years. We may only get one rookie in the end.

But I disagree with the premise of wasting time already with Banchero. As Jokic said, there are definitely steps to contention. Jokic, Bron, MJ, Giannis, Durant, etc .. all took like 5-7 years to even reach that level of contention, so we're still in the infancy of this. It's not really a scenario of some specific circumstances like Tatum joining a team that was already solid and competing right away. Trading young guys for win now moves is exactly how we got in trouble with the last rebuild.

HOWEVER.. if the offer is there and clearly something we can't pass up, sure, make the move, especially if it makes sense, i.e. Cavs picking up Mitchell, but I feel like those situations are rare, and arguably a move like the Knicks getting Brunson was way more important with less capital invested.

I think just positioning ourselves to be flexible and to make that move when we need to is most important, so I can agree there, always keeping an eye out.. I just don't think we should be desperately searching and taking on the first star or quasi-star who is disgruntled and consolidating for the sake of being good right away because of Banchero panic.

I asked my friends who are UConn diehards and went to every home game last season if Hawkins was worth drafting and they shrugged. “Isn’t he a good 3&D prospect?” I asked. Their response: “Well, he is 3 and no D. He may have some great scoring games but his defense is turnstile bad. He would be a downgrade from Gary Harris, that’s for sure.” And these are fans who overhype any UConn prospect.

I think it’s part of the reason media attention has shifted from him to other prospects like Bufkin and are higher on Dick. Apparently Hawkins is extremely one dimensional at this stage of the game.

My guess is we walk out of this draft with 2 rookies and a pick gets moved. Either 11 or the 2nd.

I'm very curious what's out there for Suggs + 11 or Anthony + 11. If we can nab Vassell for that package for the Spurs to go grab Bilal we should do it.

Ive always had Hawkins higher, for that reason.

I think anything can happen tonight.

One thing I'm pretty confident in is The Magic won't pick two players who play the same position.

My preference at #6 is Cam Whitmore as I feel The Magic could use an explosive wing and love Whitmore's upside. Ausar Thompson is someone who I am also high on and reminds me a little of Tracy McGrady.

On #11, I love Gradey Dick and feel he is underrated. Heak, I'd be comfortable taking him at #6. That's how high I am on him,

The thing is all of these players are 2/3's and if The Magic keep both picks, they should select players who play different positions (PG, SG-SF/Bigs.

I think The Magic should try to deal one of the picks for future 1sts or even look at trading down.

Other options at #6 include taking Anthony Black who is very similar to Markelle Fultz or grabbing a big like Jarace Walker or Tyler Hendricks. Dereck Lively is also a big that I like but #6 might be too high.

At #36, I'd like The Magic to trade down and pick up a future 2nd and Draft someone with a lower pick in the 40's who might agree to a Two-Way Deal.

I would not want #36 to have a spot on the main roster but a pick in the 40's on one of the three Two-Way Deals would be a good idea.

All in all, I want and predict the Magic trade one of The two Lottery Picks for future 1sts to use to use down the line.

I want to leave the draft with Cam Whitmore, Ausar Thompson or Gradey Dick.

At #36, I want them to trade down and pick up a future 2nd in the process. I predict some move happens with #36.

Anything can happen tonight including trades involving current players.

It's going to be a fun night and have full confidence in WeltHam.

It’s going to be a total bummer when this happens.

The odds of the Magic getting a pick better than the 11th pick down the road seem remarkably low.

Biggest needs. Size at guard, backup forward, and a backup center.

Cam Whitmore, Black, Bufkin, Walker, Dick and Lively all address our needs.

I think our main goal for this draft should be to leave with a rising star in the backcourt. Other needs like shooting, playmaking, and ball control can be addressed in free agency or through internal development.

One of Scoot, Amen, Ausar, Black, Wallace, Gradey, or Keyonte is my bet.

Whitmore if we think he fits in the backcourt.

Bufkin is interesting but doesn't grade out well statistically.

Defense, athleticism, vision, BBIQ, positional size are among the things that make Black able to help a contending team (in a limited role, at least for now) right out of the gate. Lots of smoke out there…who needs help now, but also desperately needs financial relief?

ANSWER: GSW

ORL drafts Black at 6, sends him, Harris, Isaac
GSW sends Poole, Wiggins, #19

GSW loves Wiggins but bets on rookie scale Black fills in today AND tomorrow. Harris is expiring, cheap and a solid contributor now. Isaac is either the best player in the trade or waived, depending on health.

ORL is suddenly deep, bigger, and more explosive by a mile. Send Fultz to WAS, with #36 if needed, for a role player like Kispert and an expiring for next summer’s (or sooner) shopping. Draft Lively at #11, BPA at #19 (Podzmieski? JHS?whoever drops) and we are deep and playoff ready. Cole gets serious minutes and a serious looking at for his extension-or, maybe moved at TD, if that makes the most sense for both. If Lively blows up quick, he might start at C, with WCJ getting big minutes at 4/5 situationally.

Poole/Cole/Podzmieski
Wiggins/Suggs
Franz/Kispert/Houstan
Paolo/M. Wagner
WCJ/Lively/Goga

With you'll on this one! I feel like there will be a player from the 20's that plummets... And Dariq would be perfect scenario... Especially if we go like an Ausar and lively start to the draft.
