I am going to have to go back to what I said. Prince makes a little more than half what Kennard makes.

I don't trust Prince.

I don't understand this comment. Outside of players on Rookie deals, there aren't too many other players that produce more for $7M per year than Prince.

Decent outside shooting, solid defense, position flexibility and veteran leadership on the court and in the locker room.

He's not irreplaceable but Taurean has been damn good for the Wolves.

I think people remember the good games, but not all the times he's completely invisible on the floor - or worse actively damaging.

For his price not bad, but marginal player overall. Kannard is slightly better, but not the bargain.

Anthony would help, one of the best rebounding guards in league, like his tenacity

if its going to be a roster/position crunch for ORL, maybe would get into the multiple 2nd round pick range to get him

not sure if ORL would be a team that would pursue Reid

I don’t need much this off-season; I’m ok with running it back with this core. However, we do need a solid backup PG to give Conley rest and perhaps be our “PG of the future”. If we can turn Prince into De’Anthony Melton or TJ McConnell I would be happy.

I don’t think we need a high usage PG, just someone who will hustle, make smart plays (limit TOs), defend a little, hit an open 3 every now and then and keep Jmac from playing (sorry Jmac).

We NEED to see a full (or half) season of this core. I think we can seriously make some noise next season and surprise the league. On paper, this is a championship-caliber team.

Wizards probably need to move a PG.

Chris Paul, Tyus Jones, Monte Morris and Delon Wright on their rosters.

Wish we could somehow get Tyus. A high IQ, low mistake backup point guard that can spot start if Mike gets injured is the #1 thing this team needs (after re-signing Naz of course)

Maybe a s&t for NAW? Or TP who's expiring?

Wish we could trade our 1st round 2024 right now.

I'll take anyone not named Chris Paul for all 3 seconds and Prince.
I think we should even consider trading Conley.

Conley, 3 seconds for Tyus Jones, Monte Morris

Tyus / Morris
Edwards / NAW
McDaniels / Prince
KAT / Anderson
Gobert / Reid

(hopefully)
this would be my absolute dream of an offseason given our lack of flexibility.

I mostly like it, but do you think Washington would do it? I'm pretty sure they will not be keeping CP3

Based on memory you can't combine a player that was just traded... if that holds it is moot. That said I wouldn't trade what few picks we have to work with for players I don't have hope are long-term solutions or have the potential to be. This is a collection of roleplayers. I wouldn't care one way or the other, in fact I would probably, if not obviously would be in favor of it if the picks are removed.

I am not seeing what others are in Jones. I fully understand he's a Minnesotan, but there's a reason why he's a backup PG.

He's a glue guy. He's not going to win you a bunch of games outright, but he's highly intelligent and doesn't make many mistakes. For an immature team like the Wolves, he's the perfect plug and play guy. He's Mike Conley without the speed, basically Mike Conley now.

I’d love Tyus but don’t think he’s anything special. Essentially any of the Wiz PGs can give us the same thing. None are starters now or in the future besides stop gaps. I also am not sure giving up Prince for one of the PGs is a good thing. Our bench shooting is atrocious, and Prince is not perfect, but he’s at least ok defensively on the wing and knocks down shots at a reasonable rate while being a good teammate. You don’t usually find that for his salary.

Tyus is probably the best backup PG in the league, and he'd make a sold 5th starter. He's not really someone you'd trade assets for because he doesn't move the needle.

I'd rather call Washington to see if they're willing to give us Morris for Princes ng deal. Toss in a 2nd, Jmac whatever.

I disagree.

Tyus has a history of completely disappearing for stretches where he is almost unplayable. This is a problem, you can't count on him at starter, you can't count on him as backup... this is why he hovers in the 2-3 range on a functional depth chart.

Good breakdown, and I’d add “Doesn’t make many mistakes” is an understatement.

The previous four seasons, Tyus led the NBA in Assist/TO ratio. This last year he lost by percentage points to .. Monte Morris. For the record, Minnesota was the fourth worst team in the NBA in turnovers last year.

I stumbled across the reason for the trade too.

Memphis Grizzlies guard Tyus Jones has been a tremendous contributor to the team's success due to the health and suspensions of star point guard Ja Morant. He's shown through stretches of starter's minutes that he can contribute at a bigger level than the role they have for him. According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the two parties are working together to find a team where he can take on a starting role.

Now, I would certainly say that Tyus is a lower-tier starting PG. The league just has so much superstar talent at the position. But Tyus has demonstrated more than any of them that he can drive winning. I’m not sure there are a lot of teams where he’d unseat the current starter, and maybe the trade to WAS is an indication they are moving everyone but Tyus. But if they aren’t, MIN might be an attractive destination. He would still likely be behind Conley, but they will limit Mike’s minutes because of age, and Tyus would be the heir-apparent for the starting PG job next season in his home town, with a strong MIN team. He’s likely to lock in a longterm deal, and team control is a big deal for MIN.
