Ya but Portland has been in the NBA for twice as long, and last won 46 years ago vs Raps 4 years ago.

As a leafs fan, a chip is a chip is a chip.

Ugh I'm a leafs fan too, but my interest has definitely fallen off over the years... They're just so damn frustrating lol.

Who is smug?

TOR guys aren’t good enough to make POR a contender.

That’s not a knock on those guys, it’s a knock on a FO that has failed to build around Lillard and now given him a coach that couldn’t find his way out of a phone booth.

Trailblazers being 2X older than the Raptors is the “somehow”.

A really crazy stat I looked up recently: the Wizards haven't won 50 games since 1978/79.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

True.

But we beat a top PHI team, not a team missing 2 or their top 3 players.

A starting 5 of Dame/Sharpe/OG/Pascal/Nurkic is deadly. One of Pascal or OG doesn’t shift the tide but both definitely do.

Boucher has his limitations, but is still a useful bench piece and the kind of player Portland doesn't really have (and at least the value of your average mid-20s draft pick). And for the Raps, it would help clear some money from the books, and if Koloko and Precious develop at all, they should probably be getting those minutes for the Raptors anyway.

Unfortunately, that trade doesn’t work under the cap.

Ah yeah, right. I get a little confused by cap implications around the trade deadline, because it sometimes seems as though there are player-for-pick trades that happen that shouldn't be allowed at other times under the rules.

Is that because salary matching is only necessary when teams are over the cap? Is the cap number for trades on draft day considered the team's cap in the previous or upcoming season? In that case, Portland was over the cap last year, but currently sit under the cap if you consider the 23-24 season.

Does anyone have a simple explanation for how draft day trades work with respect to salary matching and the cap?

Don't forget we also had to beat Philly & Milwaukee who were both full of legit stars & future hall of famers before we faced GS... People always forget this when they mention us winning the championship.

I’ll show myself out, getting pretty salty and the draft hasn’t even started.

I'd be willing to take risk for Scoot's upside. Miller doesn't move the needle enough for me even though I think he'll be very good.

Try a trade checker. Easiest way to know what works/doesn’t. Espn has a good one.

I'd personally still do the trade for Miller and extra. It's time to move on from this core

That's a title contender, no doubt. But JRoy doesn't want a contender.

This seems to be the consensus. A lot depends on what Charlotte decides to do.

Yeah, I've used some of those trade checkers before (although obviously I didn't for that random Boucher idea). I like the Fanspo one because of how it also shows available draft picks. But I'd still like to try to understand the rules, just for myself.
