Ah, yeah, $$.. in a vacuum I like it, in terms of cap stuff then maybe it wouldn't be the best idea. Just on pure value alone though I don't think that's giving up much.

I say that because we already know for a fact Cole can thrive in a certain role. Not sure if Fultz can.

I have a very hard time believing Fultz wouldn't also thrive off the bench as a #1 option.

I'm not suggesting he wouldn't. In fact, I don't even disagree with you on this.

But that's not the role he's in, nor is it the role he's going to be paid to have either.

I think I'd 100% do that but I don't think Indy would. Immediately nets us 2 shooters - dont think Myles would come off the bench though

Turner and Hield equals $55m in cap space compared to an outgoing $12m. Myles is nice, but I'm not sure how smart that deal is with this CBA longterm. That package makes sense for a team ready to compete tomorrow.

None of that deal really makes sense within the context of the timeframe or anything Weltman has parroted.

Unless we make a trade, I’m hoping for 2 of Ausar/Hendricks/Whitmore/Dick. If they’re all gone by 11 then Hawkins or trade out.

I want nothing to do with Black or Coulibaly. Coulibaly would be a second rounder if he wasn’t Wemby’s teammate, IMO.

Lakers absolutely need to do something. They don't have a lot of room for growth and Im sure they'd love a shooter like Hield. They are willing to max out cap as much as possible with the window they have left. It would be bad news if they got Bufkin at 17.

If PG is a target for 6, I have to believe that Weltman has already given his best offer to Charlotte and Portland for Scoot. Maybe that is still a draft surprise. I'm so scared of Black that I'd be THRILLED with Scoot!

I don’t believe OKC feels the same way or the Spurs.

Yeah my bad on that. I can see how I worded it poorly.

If Markelle would accept 15M AAV right now and be willing to move into Cole's 20-25 MPG backup PG role, I'd be willing to sign up for that right now candidly.

But that's not realistic.

What time is everyone muting their Woj/Shams notifications? I'm trying to remember when they dropped the Paolo news.

Then I hope they draft him. Or, alternatively, give us value to trade up for him.

I’d cut myself off from twitter around 6:30 (EST) or so.

The problem is that Woj literally spoiled the Paolo pick on the live broadcast. It was infuriating.

He's not worth a lotto pick.

If we do a 11 and Harris for GTJ and 13, that would work and still land us a good prospect at 13.
That's what I meant, sorry

Yes, but this is just the ability that people are using to compare him to current players. The other comparison people have put out there is Shaun Livingston post-injury. This is all to say them citing a pro comparison is more them scrambling to find a handful of similarities to understand a player people aren't very familiar with.

Or MCW with hops?

Black could be an excellent player but he could also be MCW. I just hope FO knows what they are doing. I love Franz and Paolo but they are not shooters maybe they get there. They are going to need space so now you are going to surround them with another ball handler who can’t shoot. If what were building ultimately fails it will be because our front office thinks everyone can just learn to shoot and it doesn’t matter.

Also: if black is this incredible passer why did he avg only 4 apg and 3 turnovers.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

If it was OKC I’d love to snipe him and package him to the Thunder for Josh Giddey. Heck the Thunder can even keep pick 12 lol. Even if it took Fultz and pick 11 i would strongly consider it IMO for Giddey.

Although there were some murmurs about Paolo that morning, I was at the draft in person and the cellphone reception in the Barclays Center was garbage. As a result, there were several of us genuinely surprised when Paolo was the pick and our whole section yelled in surprise when the call was made. You heard almost an entire stadium go, "OHHHHHHHH!" which was amazing.

This year, by contrast, you'll probably hear a cricket chirp when Wemby is picked. The Magic know how to keep things dramatic. 8-)

It helped that the commish read Paolo's name with such surprise and delight. He said the pick like he was announcing a surprise birthday party.
