What I hate is that they brought on another undersized and old point guard. With Draymond gone and Klay looking more unreliable than ever, surely those 2 spots should have been the priority? I think they should've tried harder to trade for a shooting guard that can relieve Klay of more of his minutes.

The protections on the protections on that first rounder I assume are very strong.
Steph Curry is happy!
The Draymond-Poole beef is behind us!
Does it really help with the finances?
JP and CP3 are going to earn around the same this season.
Next season, 2024-2025, they could be off CP3's contract so that would remove a $30-something million slot. But depending on what happens with Green and Klay's contract after this upcoming season, they may still be over the second apron.
While I'm sure they're off the long-term commitment to Poole, I don't think that contract was the main reason they moved JP.
Nor his play.
It's the team chemistry, team won't be anything like they were in 2021-2022 until either Poole or Draymond was off the team.
Now they're hoping the healing can begin.

Haha. Oops I am jumping ahead of myself. I just assume that Draymond thinks he is worth ALOT. And the management doesn't think he is worth anything near that. So I'm hoping that Draymond is gone because he is just a complete liability offensively.

Love it. JP did NOT fit with what we've been trying to do and that fit was only getting worse. A no defense off guard that can't be the primary ballhandler, is erratic as hell, has proven to be immature and goes through spurts where he looks like he doesn't belong on a basketball court is the most anti Kerr player we've had since Oubre. I should amend that first critique. He is potentially the WORST defender we have had in...a decade? He couldn't be worse if he tried.
Chris is an ****. But Draymond is an ****. They can check each other and I think that's just as important as the skillset he's bringing.
As for skillset, exactly what we need. Veteran who can accept a bench role and run things as the backup PG. That's been a massive hole for us for a while now. Hopefully we ramp down his minutes so he stays healthy.
My whole thing for a while has been pick a **** direction. This is a direction. We're saying 3 year title run or bust. We will probably bust, but at least we chose a direction. With Steph on the team, this is the right direction to take.

If we're truly going all in are we going to trade Klay next? He basically cost us game 6 against the Lakers.

Tbh I still have no idea why he was extended, when they could wait for him becoming a RFA. Probably it was all Draymond's fault. No puch, no extension I guess.
It was 1) Poole's breakout performance in the playoffs, 2) Tyler Herro's contract, 3) a belief Poole's number would only go up if they waited but with his new contract he would still be a trade asset.

Nope, if we are truly going all in we will be trading Kuminga/PBJ.

JP helped them win the title in 2022 and he helped them win a lot of games with Curry out much of last season.
They may have been a play in team at best without JP and Klay, another guy scapegoated by so-called Warriors fans.
How quickly people forget those games in January and February when Curry was in street clothes.
I'm not against the trade, mainly because Draymond and Poole can't co-exist on this team any more.
But he's 24 and it's not impossible that he will be a 25 PPG scorer in the next 4 years of his contract on decent efficiency.
Let's see if JK or Moody or PBJ or this guy they're going to draft tonight turns into 20 PPG scorers before celebrating.
Young 20 PPG scorers are not a given in this league, especially when drafting out of the lottery.
Even lottery picks may not become 20 PPG scorers during their rookie contracts.
So let's not pretend they gave away nothing, this situation was caused by Draymond and the team has chosen a 33-year old non-scorer over a 24-year old scorer. That may work out before Curry retires.
Or it doesn't work out at all and they gave away a young player with some value, mainly because of emotional problems on the team.
