Bulls “Draft Night” Official Thread

Post#1 » by boozapalooza » Thu Jun 22, 2023 9:42 pm

Might be good to have a single thread going right now to track the night’s picks, trades, rumors, etc. Vent as needed when we do absolutely nothing.

My prediction: the Bulls trade into the back half of the 2nd round so AKME can at least claim they did something at the post draft press conference.

1.7% chance we pull off something drastic

The most depressing thread since our ten Amar'e threads featuring Black Jesus.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

This year we have no picks. 19 years ago we drafted Ben Gordon, traded for the suns pick and got Deng, and snatched Duhon in the 2nd as well as Noc after the draft. How times have changed.

Man, Garpax sure knew how to draft. That was an A+ draft for the Bulls.

Lets say the Bulls did trade into the middle or late 2nd round. Who should the Bulls target? I mentioned this in another thread but I'd look for a high risk/high reward type of guy. Emoni Bates was once considered the best HS prospect in the country. There have been numerous issues since then and his game needs a lot of polish, but having watched him a couple of times at EMU last year, the talent is there.

it would obviously be fun for something to happen tonight, but I think it's all much more likely that loves, if any are made, occur at the start of free agency on June 30th.

Still, imagine there will be plenty of other moves around the NBA tonight that are fun.

In the end, I view LaVine, DeRozan, and Caruso as our 3 actual right now impact players. Making me hesitant, but not unwilling to trade any of them.

Would love to get on the Washington fire-sale train - Tyus Jones or Monte Morris would be great additions to our team.

what's funny now is that Denver somewhat follows the old Paxon draft plan. Nearly everyone they draft had some level of success, in either highschool or college you can bet they were a champion or a final four participant.

It seems comically simple, but umm, winning players are winning players.

DeMar needs to be moved! He is in the last year of his contract and not going to get any younger or better.

Built a playoff team with that draft. Now we get to build a lotto team with this one.

Certainly not getting younger. Unsure why everyone's so confident he can't get better. I think it's easy to argue that DeMar just had the best season of his career in 2021-22, and another good season last year.

Also even if not better, he's still very good right now.

This team needs good players, whether competing for the playoffs or a championship.

Players like DeMar don't grow on trees. This board routinely over simplifies how to build a winning team, while ignoring the one thing every winning team has - good players. Yet all the majority here seem to want to do is trade the ones we have.

How about we develop more good players or acquire some via the draft or free agency - even if ::gasp:: they're not a high pick or max contract player.

I can pre-summarize them for you:

- continuity

- we like the group of guys we have

- we're not that far off

- continuity

- we were right there with the Heat who ended up making the finals

- we got a great group of guys

- Billy is our coach

- continuity

- Lonzo is making progress but we don't have a clear timetable or update as of now

- there's a lot to be optimistic about

- continuity

This draft is deep and has plenty of wings with shooting abilities/upside, it would be a shame if they don't get something done.
