Nick Smith and Miller played on the same team. Bradley Beal elite.

Outside of Bamba and Okeke they've done quite well. 2nd round shenanigans excluded.

Then again the Okeke pick is probably the one that mirrors the Jett Howard pick most.

It just goes to show that as a casual, we're nowhere near it. We just have to wait and see.

It goes to show how on the scouts level, we as fans are casuals. We're not in the gyms nor in the medical office to determine how healthy and reliable these players really are in real time. That's a reality that we as fans have to understand. We can't lead with our emotions because the player(s) we desire may not be whom our team picks during these events every year. Those reasosn helped humbled me a while back. I used to be one of those fans who would get fired up and upset if and when the Magic pick a player I didn't want at times. Don't get me wrong, the Magic have laid eggs on some players in the past. Sometimes, they may get it right. I simply learn to take the emotion out of it. Check by the categories where our weaknesses are and make a list of players who help improve our weaknesses and go from there. Keep the logistics on point. Keep the emotions out. That's how business works forever and always.

If you go by our draft picks over the last 23 years, it appears our scouts also might be casuals. Seriously, look it up, our draft history has been dreadful. Most players were either outright busts or injury prone. Over 23 years we've had maybe a handful of players that were serviceable or better that stayed healthy and played for us for an extended period of time.

Now we're hoping out 1st round pick guards can replace our recent 1st round pick guards. It's time we take a long hard look at our scouting methods and personnel because clearly we have room to improve.

Making picks in the draft isn't as easy as advertise. Think about how many #1 draft picks go bust throughout the years. The same way can go any pick in the draft. It's literally a roll of the dice. You might roll a lucky seven or roll a snake eyes. It will happen. Sometimes, the scouts may get it wrong and fail to do their due diligence on their player research. There are times the scouts get it right and the team's coaching staff fail to do their jobs and develop their players to best fit and improve the young player's trajectory of their skills set for the present and future.

Because OWNERSHIP want money. Thats why.

To clarify, this was an ownership move. Weltham would have had no input into this.

At this point, I would strongly consider repurposing the Gary Harris money on Grant Williams in free agency.

The Magic need another shooter in the rotation. Okeke and Bol aren't rotation players and Isaac can't be relied upon.

Magic ownership is quietly bottom-5 in the nba with some of the recent.. departures. Literally trying to compete with slightly less assets than other teams by design. I'm kind worried what would happen when we finally build a team that would cost a lot of $ to keep together.

I'm not barfing but I'm still not happy about it. Then again my ability to be unhappy had to be kind of spread out after the Howard pick.

Did people forget that we already have paolo and franz? anybody we get from this draft class at #6 and #11 would more or less be role players....maybe solid starters....but this class imo have few legit stars for me it's only Wemby and Scoot who i feel confident will be at the very least stars in the NBA....everybody else in this class is a roll of the dice

Gary has to be traded. I wouldn't mind Grant and I bet the FO is looking into it.

The big FA problem is: where are the consistent minutes coming from?

Big IF, but if Isaac is healthy, does Grant Williams play consistent minutes? If the answer is yes, Jett isn't getting minutes.

We need to consolidate... tough decisions will need to be made but I bet the FO does nothing for at least half a season to hedge their bets.

I went into this thinking, we might trade up, or trade down and get 3 exciting picks. like hawkins and gradey

We make no trades, we got black, some guy, and cash, and a 2030 second round draft pick. so exciting, yea i think ill im barfing also

Personally? I would just slot Grant into the backup PF slot and frankly would have no issue just waiving Isaac.

And I think Gary is more likely to be waived than traded. Unless they can trade him for a 4/3 that can shoot. Or maybe a 5 they like better than Goga.

I’m barfing at the Anthony Black pick too. We had this guy 5 years ago, he went by Elfrid Payton back then. The Howard pick bugs me because we could have had Whitmore there but I kinda understand that pick, he’s a scoring 2 and they liked him for their reasons. We didn’t need whatever the hell Black is. He’s not a 1, he’s too inept a shooter for the 2 and 3. He’s a bench guy.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Weltman saying they went into this draft looking for IQ and defensive versatility. I see that with Black but I haven’t seen the defensive versatility with Jett, at all.
