Magic Trade #36 To Milwaukee For 2030 2nd and Cash

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Fri Jun 23, 2023 3:02 am

A last report from Khobi Price before he departs for L.A.

Read on Twitter

Before anyone gets upset..........

The Magic had no room on the 15 man Roster for a third rookie and this way they have more flexibility with their two other 2 Way Slots (Kevon Harris in one of the three).

Getting 2nd round picks that far out does not hurt as second round picks have some good value these days especially if it's unprotected.

I know I just posted about not trading down and getting assets to get Jett Howard later but doing that in the first round is a bigger risk.

Continually trading near 1st round picks for future unknown 2nds is just dumb. At least get two future seconds for such a great 2nd round pick.

Pretty much expected. Jeff said he wasn't going to select 3 rookies months ago. I do trust this front office to make the right picks and right moves, even if they're boring. Theirs a reason the media lists us as the team with one of the brightest futures.

But we got a former magician back in the deal as well... he is probably worth more than another srp

What if two 2nds wasn't available for #36?

Other teams do it nearly every year. A year or two ago, the team 1 pick ahead of us did it... and we traded our pick for cash considerations. I like the direction our FO has us going but this aspect is frustrating.

Under the new CBA, I guess it's going to be valuable to have 2nd round picks to add players.

The market in the 2nd round is different each year.

Let's see if a team trading a 2nd after #36 has a better haul than The Magic.

In this case, I don't trade the pick then. I get we may have limited roster spots, but injuries also happen and with Lakeland right there, I don't just give this pick away. It wasn't that long ago that Rupert was a lotto pick and now he could be right there. Jackson is also very talented and keeping him in the G-League for the majority of the season would have worked well for him and us.

So, would you put this player on the 15 man roster or use one of the Two-Way slots on them?

Expected, but bad trade as always.

Anyway, good for DeVos's family, as they have this recurrent money every single year.

There was a minus-point-minus percent chance the Magic is carrying three rookies. As it is, Howard could get a lot of Osceola time as Mr. #11.

With Leonard Miller and Brice Sensabaugh off of the board, there was no upside for taking this pick.

It was more about getting the future 2nd.

It was more about getting the future 2nd.

A worst 2nd in 7 years makes lots of sense. It's only about money.
