He’s longer than Miles Bridges and just 2lbs lighter than he was coming out

Defensively I'd much rather see Ausar denying opposing top-level wings than chasing around other stretch fours or small-ball wings. Switching is a thing, I know, but I'd prefer getting a handle on the perimeter defense so Duren can do his thing inside without having to cover so much space (even though physically/atheltically he can).

Definitely agreed. I think it just gives us another layer of flexibility as we build the roster

His size is no problem with the guys we have. It’s his offensive skill set that may not fit. We’ll see how it goes.

Weaver compared him to Iguodala in the Warriors death lineup

Whom on this team does he think equates to Steph, Klay, or Draymond?

If Ansur continues to develop his range, he definitely will fit. I’m still concerned about the 4. I’d really like Grant back.

You don’t need a lineup with those types of players for a guy of that archetype to be useful.

You need them for him to play like he’s in the death lineup, though, which is what I was responding to.

Pre-GSW Iggy was an All-Star. Really versatile player.

Think Weaver was meaning Ausar is very Iggy like - not just Death Line Up Iggy

When i heard weaver talk about Ausar it made me think he may end up starting. Last year Bey, Bagley and Beef stew were supposed to start with BB coming off the bench. If we are trying to make a push like Weaver said Looks like our bench is now Sasser, BB and Wiseman. Just wonder who our starting 4 is.

I…just don’t think you can start Stew/Duren with that starting perimeter. The spacing would be abysmal.

Bojan needs to start. He’s the only consistent shooter.

I’d just start BB and Ausar to begin with. Stewart can backup Duren and play some backup 4 too. Wiseman can sit next to the assistant coaches. Not a fan.

I’m just replying to what ComboGuardCity posted. I’m aware that Iggy had a nice career.

One of the things that really excites me about Ausar is seeing him paired up with our new coaching staff. He seems like a humble but competitive kid who wants to put in the work, and I feel like pairing him with assistants like Silas and Jarrett Jack will really help him advance his game. If Beilein is still around, I know he'll be working that shot at every opportunity as well.

It's not going to be an overnight thing, but I think people are going to start to see the vision once he hits the court at Summer League.

Could Ausar end up being a Bridges or Johnson type?

If so he's exceeded expectations.

I get that I've preached patience from Day 1 of Weaver but there's a world where Duren, Ausar, Ivey and Cade become something special.

Let's hope it's this one

Wasn't my first pick but it happened so I'm going to root for him.

Interesting that Amen got all the hype because of his potential as a lead ball handler but Ausar was the one who was the league MVP both years. It'll definitely be interesting to see how he fits with the core.

Can't be too upset with this. We got an athletic wing who should be a good defender from day one, will be a solid secondary playmaker and can develop into a decent shooter (he already showed real improvement in his shooting over the course of the season). I think we'll look back in 3-5 years and realize it was the right decision.

Weaver sounded pretty enthused in his press conference. I get the sense Weaver believes (with high confidence) he's selected a future all-star caliber player.
