First off, I'm a little surprised he was signed so soon after. Must have been a shared interest type of thing. This kid honestly surprised the hell out of me during the tourney. He was amazing even with his height deficiencies. Now I'm worried about the size as everyone should be, but he plays with a poise and toughness that should help him out tremendously.

He's going to be a Tyler Ulis type player. His stats, including D-Rating is phenomenal. His stock is high due to his number of steals. I agree if he was 6'2" he would be top 5. It becomes a question on how can the Raptors hide his height. He's a strong guy. He will never start but if he can run the team better than our other bench players he might get some minutes against smaller guards - 6'2" and under. I could see him annoying the crap out of Lowry, Paul and Curry.

Only 5'8, so hopefully he's the next Isaiah Thomas in an ideal world, lol.

Dude was incredible in March.

No kidding. This comparision doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe. But GP2 was waived 5 times, had two 10 days run out and only really produced for his 6th team in his 7th year in the league.

Nowell can flat out ball and has the special quality of being able to will things to happen on the court but I'm not sure 5'6 3/4 barefoot is going to cut it in the league.

I'll be rooting for him though.

It's the fact that he's significantly shorter than Lowry, FVV, Kemba, Chris Paul, etc. Even during peak Isaiah Thomas play, Boston catered the whole team around him and had to make up for his obvious defensive shortcomings. To his credit, he was great, but you have to be incredible offensively to make up for being a sieve on the other end.

I don't know enough about Nowell to say how he could transition to the NBA. His tournament run was great, and he seems to be a better natural playmaker than everyone I listed above not named Chris Paul.

He might be able to carve out a DJ Augustin type of role as a journeyman in this league.

Summer league is kind of must-watch basketball for real Raptor fans now. Should be interesting.

Nowell and Dick are two players who play the game the right way. Make the correct reads, passes and play with hustle. They were drafted to a team that should in theory make up for their possible defensive vulnerabilities.

At the very least, it'll be fun to see a player around my height try and make it.

I was worried we were just gonna run it back as is but these two are enough of a shake up for me to be interested even if nowell doesn't work out

Now we know what Fred's real height is. Nowell is 5'7". Fred is probably 5'9". That's why he gets lost going to the rim.

You think hes a better playmaker than Kyle Lowry but you can only see him as a journeyman……that doesnt make sense.

I wish Raptor fans would just sometimes admit that they dont know enough about the player and are willing to wait to see more.

Lets at least wait until Summer league before you guys ship him to Guangdong.

Even if Nowell doesnt work out, it will be 100x more entertaining than Flynn and Banton. Thank god.

At the end of the day, I just want to watch entertaining **** basketball.

His passing is...butter. Given how many non shooters we have, he could be a very nice signing.

Well it's all about trade-offs right? And in this case it's whether the height will undermine his game at the NBA level.

And frankly, if he's made it this far at this size, i would expect him to be an elite playmaker.

I agree to reserve judgement till later. If he wasn't pegged as a journeyman at best at this stage, he would have been drafted. Let's hope he beats the odds.

Most likely he wont be able to hold a roster spot and youre right.

But lets at least give him a chance before making sweeping judgements. You cant teach those vision and playmaking skills.

He's like a smaller version of Nash. Maybe not as good of a shooter yet.

He's 8+ assists per 36, that's dope.

Well, his handle is as good as Fred's was when he was picked, and that's all Fred had to start with. He is fast/intense and can blow by people (imagine that for a change). He can laser pinpoint one arm passes. Fred can't do that. He isn't a volume shooter, and he seeks out assists. He can throw a lob pass cleanly and appears to be able to time the pick and roll well. His shot doesn't look terrible. I think we've found a possible back up point guard folks. If he's an assist machine I could see him in on our team if we get injuries. Did I mention he plays fast and deliberately. I'm so done with the pounding of the ball era. Living to not turn the ball over just ain't what it's about. Fred's go to move is DHO at this point in his career. I can just envision the team playing fast again. Love the move. If any player can be 5'8'' it's your PG. We've seen small guys excel before. He just needs to be a solid back-up and this could be the start of really good things. It's Fred's attitude that made him. I hope this guy has some bottle.

There have been a grand total of 2.

You guys just complain for the sake of complaining. Just watch summer league and hope for the best.

Not to mention that they just drafted a 6-8 and a 6-5 lead guard in the 2nd round only two years ago.
