Good SI Scouting Report on him...

https://www.si.com/nba/draft/prospect-profiles/nba-draft-scouting-report-hungarys-vincent-valerio-bodon

Prospect Profile
Although he’s the size of a big at 6-foot-10, Valerio-Bodon is a pure wing that plays with a combination of positional size, length, shooting, and fluidity. He has spent the last several years in Hungarian NBIA and has has shown consistent development. He possesses intriguing tools and strong frame for a wing. The 22-year-old has developed physically quite a bit in recent years and now uses his body and broad shoulders well on both ends. Even then, theres's still a ton of runway on that front as he’s never truly lifted weights or been a part of a strength program, and could support another 15 pounds on his frame which would only enhance his game in nearly every aspect. He has long arms and legs and is able to cover a ton of ground.

Valerio-Bodon cleans the glass well and can also grab and go. That’s a highly translatable skill set at the NBA level. More holistically in transition, he uses his acceleration to become a threat on the break and can finish with power, especially as a lob threat.

Offensively, the Hungarian prospect is definitely more of an off-ball player. With that in mind, he has secondary creation upside and can make things happen with the ball in his hands. He recently had a game in which his passing chops were on full display as he generated six assists. He grew up playing point guard before having a significant growth spurt, and the guard skills still shine through today. With that in mind, Valerio-Bodon will need to improve handle a bit to thrive at next level. He takes long strides as a driver that allows him to get by defenders without being lightning quick, but can sometimes get knocked off his track when being defended by someone more physical.

Again, Valerio-Bodon is primarily a perimeter threat offensively. He has a quick release on his jump shot and is more than just a catch-and-shoot guy. He can make jumpers in rhythm, but also on the move. He shoots a quick, consistent jumper with minimal movement and a high release point. He’s also a good cutter and has solid touch near basket, but is definitely more perimeter oriented player. We would like to see him put pressure on rim more often and get to free throw line at a higher rate, especially since he's an elite shooter from the line for his size.

I have Good Ghoulash Vibes about The Mad Hungarian...

Yes! I as saying earlier today (can't find the post b/c I was gonna post it here as a quote to take a victory lap, lol) that he was by far the best player available who went undrafted and also wasn't signed yet as an UDFA.

So to recap...

-We got a guy with the 38th pick, who I had ranked 29th on my big board
-We got a guy as an UDFA who I had ranked 46th on my big board

IMO, Bodon was the 2nd best prospect in this draft who went undrafted (after Terquavion Smith..and one might argue Bodon is just as good as Terq as a prospect)

Valerio-Bodon is good. We have a poster on here who might chime in (I think he's from Hungary and knows more about Valerio-Bodon than me). But Bodon is 6'9.5", has a 37" vertical leap, shot 41% from 3 on decent volume. Scored in double figures in a pro league.

He's a much better shooter than Walsh..and he's a couple inches taller than Walsh. But Walsh is 3 years younger and a better defender.

They're both good.

Low key (and someone on Twitter said this so I can't take full credit) but Valerio-Bodon (we should just call him VVB for short) is kind of like Gallo. Not as good obviously, but VVB is much younger, more athletic and not coming off ACL surgery.

Excited to see him on the summer league team! He legit could make the team.

Potential SL starting 5:

C Kabengele
PF Bodon
SF Walsh
SG Champagnie
PG JD

Fun lineup!

Oh yeah and that Mulder guy for a 6th man.

If Kabengele doesn't play, maybe we can snag Jack Nunge..

Hal you came through with the goods here, thank you.

I feel like I’ve seen this highlight reel before except the guy’s name was Dragan Bender and he was going as high as #2 instead of being UDFA.

Looks promising — let the SL hype machine begin!

So Stevens went with a repeat of the 2021 draft. A young, athletic, defense first wing with his second round pick and a shooting specialist with size as the top UDFA.

Let's hope he can stick in the league like Hauser did.

Vincent Valerio-Bodon- NBA Destination: Celtics (Summer League).

Wing | Hungary
Height: 6'10” | Weight: 210 lbs
2023 Draft Age: 22.14

On the defensive end, Valerio-Bodon is pretty versatile with his length and mobility. He’s overall disruptive and seems to have a high IQ when evaluating his rotations within a scheme.

I like that they don't have too many significant mouths to feed at any position. Each of these guys should see plenty of time and plenty of time together. Any word on their coach? Ben S. again?

Updated UDFA tracker.

Peterson to Miami. Kind of like the crew to LAL unfortunately.

Oh, right.

I figure we have 1 of our new coaches that we just hired do it. Give them a chance to get to know the players (our coaches who have been here already know JD, Champagnie, and Kabengele is he plays).

Maybe have either Pressey or Jefferson do it. They're both coming from college coaching so it'll be good - they're both used to coaching younger guys, college guys and SL is a lot of kids right out of college or. fringe NBA guys..

I admit it''s probably unlikely that Kabengele plays in SL, but he's still a fringe NBA guy who's fighting for a roster spot.

Justin Jackson was too old/experienced to be on a 2-way last year and he was on our SL team. So it wouldn't be that crazy if Kabengele played summer league for us. We need someone to play center. And even if he's a long shot, he could *maybe* make our roster as a deep bench big. And even if he doesn't make our roster, he could play SL for us to try and catch the eye of a different team's GM to try and get signed by another team where he may have a better shot at making the roster.

Realistically though, he probably should just go overseas and be a starting (or key reserve) big over there.

If he doesn't play for us, there's other bigs we could get for our SL team. Jack Nunge and Jake Stephens are still available, I think. Both big dudes who can shoot it from 3 a bit..

I'm much more enthused about The Mad Hungarian (I suppose his NBA moniker will be VVB) than I am about Walsh, who is years away from contributing to the Celtics in any meaningful way. I have good vibes about VVB, who could be one of the Sleepers in the
Draft (because he was apparently not all that well scouted, hidden away in Hungary.)

And to be truthful, the Celtics have been awful with their second-rounders since the 80s, but seem to be more attuned
to under-heralded Euros like Theis and UDFAs like Hauser.

I see Bodon as being better than Hauser, as he's taller and potentially better defensively and with the Celtics having lost Gallo and
Muscala, they could use another reserve shooter with size.

BTW the Sixers keep kicking me in the crotch with their 2-way big men play. First it was Bassey now it's Tubelis. Brad so far another  start to the UDFA market.Yes, I know he ended up with a few interesting SL signings later on last year but I did wish he jumped in more aggressively with the wing class last year.

BTW: I am checking out Valerio-Bodon now.....
