I would do a trae for Brown as well. I don’t care if he’ll be targetted by other teams, same thing can be said about Dame, and guys wanted him here lol.

Would we able to sign Hayward if he’s bought out or would we end up CBA’d out of doing it if we use a MLE on somebody?

A Young, Tatum, Porzingis trio would be intriguing

If he'd take the minimum sure but I don't think Hayward does that. He probably goes back to Indiana.

A big dude who can do a lot of things kind of well on 4/90 is super valuable. That's essentially what Aaron Gordon is except he's really good at highlight dunks.
I think you can get similar production from Josh Richardson for MLE minus the dunks.

Windhorst just repeats anything he reads on Twitter. Like him saying Brogdon is out for the long term due to injury only for Brad to say that's not the case and the Clippers to confirm the deal was cancelled because they wanted to do a physical and there wasn't enough time for one a day or two later.

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread, pt 5 - 2023-24
Must seem crazy that I am entertaining the idea of trading Jaylen considering how hard I defended him and didn’t want to deal him these past couple seasons.
But with that being said, now that Smart is dealt, it almost makes sense to continue the shakeup and really build this team around Jayson being the alpha. Especially if we can nab a top PG.
I also can’t help but feel bad for Smart if we were to win the whole thing and the only significant move we did was subtract him. <—— though the cigars at the parade would certainly make that feeling going away instantly.

Who says no?
Mavs get: Grant Williams (via sign and trade)
Celtics get: Kyle Anderson
Wolves get: 1st round pick from Dallas
Add other pieces/filler if necessary. But this is the framework.
-Dallas doesn't need the 1st round pick - they just drafted TWO guys in the 1st round, after there was all those rumors that they were gonna trade the 10th pick for a win-now player. Well, they get their win-now player in Grant. Perhaps now that they got rid of Bertans' contract, that might mean Dallas can now acquire Grant without having send out much (or any) outgoing salary
-Anderson only has 1 yr left on his deal. Good deal for Minnesota to get a 1st rounder for him. It's not like they're a contender anyways so losing him isn't that big of a deal. They have 2 other wings already (mcdaniels, Prince) who are big wings who are good defensively but not such great scorers so they don't need all 3 of them..plus, this opens up some minutes for Josh Minott. Plus, Anderson got in a fight with Gobert in the middle of a game late in the season. Good chance they move 1 of them and if they do, it's highly unlikely that it would be Gobert who's moved since he's a star player who they just traded a million assets for.
-As for Boston, we wouldn't be able to use the TPMLE, but our top 8 would be so freaking good that I don't really care. Roll with this top 8 (white, JB, JT, rob, Al, KP, brogdon, Anderson) and fill in the rest with vets on minimum contracts, young guys, Pritchard and Hauser..
Plus, it would be great for Walsh to be able to learn from Anderson. Walsh has the potential to eventually be a similar type of player as Anderson (a little shorter but more athletic). Walsh will become a beast, by learning from Anderson and the Jays - and going against them in practice everyday.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Any interest in Divincenzo with the TPMLE if Brogdon is out significant time? He’s not a pg but I think could slide into the role Brogdon held last year off the bench. Maybe more traditional pg options available at the vet min.

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread, pt 5 - 2023-24
I just saw the full accounting of the second round pics we turned #25 into.
Dallas 2024
Best of Detroit, Golden State and Washington 2025
Best of Minny,New Orleans, New York, Portland 2026
Atlanta 2027
Tweet From Forsberg.
So turned 25 into Walsh and those 4 picks. At the time May have said WTF Brad. But I like it.
Also really like his 2nd round picks the last 2 seasons. Davison and Walsh. Both top 20 in their class coming out of HS. Played one year of College with a major but not staring role. Both have potentially elite skills that need some honing.

There's a number of reasons why this trade is not happening but the chief among them it requires Grant signing an $18 mil. a year deal.

Does Dallas want Grant that bad? I like it for Cs and Minny. If I am Dallas that’s not worth a first unless it’s at least lotto protected.

A sign and trade for a 8th/9th man first of all rarely ever happens (except as a salary match) and definitely not worth a lotto protected first.
Minnesota has no reason to shed players. They don't control their own picks. They also made the playoffs with Towns playing just 25 games. They are not going to take a step back just to help the Celtics and the Jazz.

I’m one who would like JB traded for the right deal but to me the right deal is only limited to star player who’s a better fit. Such as Dame, maybe Bridges or unrealistic ones like Luka etc. I’m seeing a lot here who would be happy to give him up for two ok to decent players. I think that would be a mistake. I’d much rather JB than a lot of players, but for the love of god JB, accept your limitations and play to your strengths!!

I do not say no. Just unsure if this would work with the idea of trying to stay under the second luxury tax level.

Yeah good points. In the OP (though it wouldn’t happen) the 1st makes it a good trade for Minny. But as you pointed out it’s not realistic.

They're not taking a step back. Getting a 1st round pick for a role player who only has 1 year left on his deal and can't even average double figure scoring is good value
Offseason is just getting started. They could always make other moves to improve the team in other areas. Good chance that they're looking to move Anderson after him and Gobert got in a fight (if 1 of them has to go, it's obviously not gonna be Gobert)

The 2025 and 2026 picks have a real strong chance to be in the early thirties. Regardless, it restocks all the seconds they have traded away and gives them some ammunition for potential future trades.
