That Mugsy Bogues season in Toronto was special though. That was TMac's last season. Had he stayed it could have turned into a regular title contender. Probably our most talented team (championship season included)

Darko seems like the type of guy who will let a player like this have every opportunity to succeed. He seems like a Darko type of player

Muggsy had 7 seasons with win shares of 4.8 or higher. Obviously it was a different kind of league back then (less reliant on getting outside shots off against long close-out defenders for one thing), but I love that Nowell has already been reaching out to guys like Muggsy to pick their brains about ways that he can try to become successful in the league like they were.

I'll be rooting for him. If he could stick, he'd be fun as an off the bench change of pace guard like Alvarado.

So explosive, he blew by top defenders like Cason Wallace. He's going to be a problem or he's going to get snuffed. Either or.

The purpose of getting Nowell is to push the other guys on the roster. If he's hungry, hustling, not giving up at 5'8, so should everyone else. Now, the fact this is necessary shows you in fact have an issue on the roster.

Talent wise, this guy can really play. But the physical reality cannot be denied. In NBA, help defense is at another level from college, that's a gross understatement.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I think Summer League is going to be really fun this year with Nowell and Dick.

We have to be realistic and expect him not to make the NBA due to his size. It’ll be a bonus if he becomes a rotation player.

I wanted a guard that could beat his man off the dribble, but I didn't expect it to be 5"7 Marquis Nowell.. Oh well, I'll take it.

Looks like Nowell will be a good PG to have in the system even if he doesn’t become a legit nba rotation player. He’ll bring some semblance of structure to the g league team which will improve chemistry and player development.

He'd be a cheat code in the g league.

IF he gets to a point halfway or late into the regular season where he is contributing off the bench regularly...that is a massive win for the Raptors.

Kind of see Grand Theft Alvarado vibes from Nowell.

How do you hide him on defense? Zone?

He might be even worse in zone since it'll be harder for him to rotate out in some cases. I have no clue how you hide a 5'8" guy on D unless the other team has an obvious guy like Thybulle, or some non-athletic perimeter shooter or something.

My first thought was get him into the Dunk contest.

good watch. see so much of young fred there but more explosive. utilises the same sort of strats to get off his shot as a smaller player.

i think if he doesn't quite make it on this level he'll find lots of money/success overseas at the very least.

Even if he doesn't get many minutes with the Raptors, in the times when he's with the team instead of the 905 he should help them in practice to be able to game plan against quick penetrating guards, something the defence had a real problem with the past couple of years.

Is his size disadvantage that much different than Fred? I dunno. He seems quite solid as far as getting posted by bigger guards. Could be a real steal here.
