ya, for a one and done playing only 24mpg his highlight reel is quite lengthy and very impressive ...the 1st one that appeared on my search was 15 mins long

dude has elite lateral movement
elite wingspan
keeps the ball moving, can pass and rebound very very well
he finishes around the rim very well and in traffic, lots of put backs
hustle play after hustle play after hustle play...

looks and plays much bigger than 6'6

Can pass ? Not even one assist per game in 36 game playing 24 mpg ? 3.9 rebounds is a good rebounder? Only thing he was good at was defense and steals I watched and watched way to hesitant to shoot even when open? Look for a second rounder ok but saying dude can pass with not one assist per game makes no sense unless your talking about his hockey assist passes I've seen two games where his outlet looked good dude didn't want the ball in his hands the passes I seen were immediately passed on to the next guy. Defensive looks good but he is never going to be a star probably a defensive rotation guy is his ceiling.

Are we we really posting assist numbers for a guy who's not even a PG and was only a freshman, played basically the entire season at age 18 and played for the college team that ranked 315th in the country in 3 pt% ?

Look, I'm not sayin he's the best passer in the world. But there's a couple of indicators that tell us that he's a low usage guy who knows how to move the ball and find the open man, keep the offense flowing.

One indicator is that he only had a 16% usage rate this season. The other indicator is the film here at the 2:38 mark:

Oh and you mentioned his rebounding. There's some clips at 4:24 of that vid that show his ability to crash the boards.

Stats don't tell the whole story - especially when we're talking about only a 1 year sample size, and a dude who was only 18 yrs old for basically that entire season.

Lastly, to do a more accurate evaluation, it's always best to look at more than just a 1 year sample size. If we look at 2 years ago (his last year of prep school ball), he was the go-to scorer and best player on the 2nd best HS team on the planet.

Here, he leads his team to their 3rd win in the GEICO nationals tournament, advancing to the national championship game where they'd face Montverde Academy (usually the best HS team in the country, which had a bunch of future NBA players, including Dariq Whitehead and Jalen Hood-Schifino)

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

This guy is a 6'7 version of Marcus Smart when he first entered the league. Great defense, frustrate the hell out of whom ever he is guarding, decent passer, has the vision, just needs to have the timing, but can't shoot a lick. Yep, just like smart when he entered the league.

He averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, 2.4 steals and 2.3 blocks per game and was named class 4A All-State as a junior. Walsh transferred to Link Academy in Branson, Missouri prior to the start of his senior year. He averaged 15.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in his only season at Link. So basically his stats been dropping from junior to senior in high school then again in college. Seems the tougher the competition is the less he can do offensively. But I'm at the point with current bench players we got. I have to root for him and hope he remembers he can score, pass and block shots .it's almost as if it's a confidence thing or he was out classed as he got older. To me usually 5 star recruits get better as they develop.

It’s gonna be his confidence and aggressiveness offensively that determines if he’ll stick. He’s got the defensive tools and chops but was an extremely low usage guy in college. In some ways he reminds me of a wing Derrick white. Not the same talent level but Brad kept saying how he has good touch but he doesn’t shoot it nearly often enough.

He’ll have to develop both confidence and the shot beyond Thybulle levels if he ever wants to see the court for more than 10 min a game

Giving away the #27 jersey number willy-nilly to every Tom, Dick, and Harry is just disrespectful to Celtics legend Daniel Theis. But then again, it's also a nod to another Celtics legend who is Walsh's namesake, ECF Player of the Week Jordan Crawford.

And he's a tone setter apparently. Seems like a great guy to take up that Marcus Smart mantle.

His Athletic profile says: two-way player who sets a contagious tone with intense defense and selfless offense. Seems like a great fit for a team with offensive studs but that also struggled to keep defensive intensity/concentration.

They described him as a supercharged Jae Crowder. Demarre Carroll is the other common comparison. So basically high level role player, which is exactly the kind of guy we need around the Jays (and KP).

Watching his video, he reminds me of second year Avery Bradley - but 6-7 with a PF like wing span. Once he is a serviceable corner 3 guy he is going to play a lot.

Other rookies like Smart and Brown and Grant got playing time because they were NBA ready defenders too.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Says if it's his job to replace Smart as the provider of the team's heart and soul, he might as well get to work as part of the C's new "Big 3" now.

Walsh said in an article the other day that now that he's done playing at Arkansas, "the handcuffs are off" implying that he's got more offensive skill than he was able to show there.

Some plays from his last HS season, prior to Arkansas when he was the best player and go-to scorer on the 2nd best HS team on the planet..

Is this gonna be the guy we all get excited for this year only for him to see like 2 minutes on the floor over the course of the season?

lol probably. I'm not saying you shouldn't get excited but if Grant, Hauser, Nesmith, Langford, JD, Begarin and PP couldn't get minutes these past few seasons there's not going to be many for Walsh. At least he'll make things difficult for guys in practice so that should help, assuming he's even with the big club. Hopefully, despite this, he develops and eventually takes over Grant's role. He's a better prospect than Grant that's for sure. Just be patient. Not because he couldn't step in right away but because we simply don't have the minutes

Grant Williams averaged 21 minutes/game over the four seasons he has played with the Celtics. Hauser averaged 16 minutes/game last season. I'd say those were fairly significant minutes for bench guys. Not to say that Walsh should expect similar minutes, but you never know. Highlight reels can lead to expectations that just don't materialize.

Seems like a good, well grounded kid, and that defense will translate immediately.

Brad Stevens passed on him at 31 and again at 34 lol.

He's the 3rd Razorback to be drafted behind Black and Nick Smith Jr.
