Re: Sixers hire Nick Nurse
We need Harden to share facilitating with Maxey
We need to get the ball moving
We need interior passing.
We need less pts and assists from Harden and Embiid.
We need more pts and passes from the rest of the team.

If Nurse values high BBIQ players then Reed is in deep doodoo.

We need not just the ball moving, but the players always moving as well - cutting, finding open spots, creating shot opportunities through off ball movement.
Those Spurs teams were an absolute joy to watch. To me, the perfect basketball teams.

Why ? What has McDaniels shown you to warrant him being watched? Or even inserted into the starting line up? I mean Reed has got better and better each year right,

McDaniels has less “questions” to play with the rest of our guys like Embiid, Harden and even Tobi. He can play 3 or 4 by being a triple threat option to shoot, pass and drive off kickouts. He can also be a lob threat off interior passing from Biid, which we used him quite often for that.
I also think he is the better shooter for the team seems more confident with McDaniels shooting by giving him the green light to shoot compared to Reed.
McDaniels has better foundational skills to make the trademark “raptors” leap like OG and Siakam compared to Reed.
And this is coming from a guy who is not high on McDaniels.

Re: Sixers hire Nick Nurse
The hope is that both Reed and McDaniels can make a leap in a Nick Nurse system if they return. Reed is kind of stuck in between center and pf but hes good enough defensively to defend both positions. Where it looks like McDaniels is a legit forward being able to play both positions offensively and defensively.
Filip Petrusev skillset looks like it will be that of a stretch 5. Ofcourse we aren't sure if his skillset will translate defensively but it will be a huge plus off the bench if it does. When I think about where Reed can realistically play the 4 on this team I imagine him being in the P&R while Petrusev stretches the floor at the 5 offensively. Defensively I can see Petrusev manning the middle where he is underrated shotblocker while Reed plays the weak side, like poor man version of Marc Gasol and Siakim.

McDaniels can play the 4? I feel like he's more of a under-skilled 2/3. Dude's like 190 lbs.
Kinda doubt Petrusev factors into their plans.

He can play 4 in small lineups. I'd like him back but only if the price is right. Around $8M/yr at most.
Paul Reed is a better, younger player with a steeper growth trajectory. He's the one we need to resign.

Nah he's a 3/4 forward through in through. He's not skilled enough or good enough shooter to play the 2. He can play the 4 against smaller 4's . He may be thin but he's long enough to affect shots around the rim and agile enough to contest out on the perimeter.

Ok thanks for that. I don't see it that way but we will see as the season goes on. I view Mcdaneils as a replacement for Tobis not taking away minutes from Reed.

I’ll be surprised if McDaniels returns to the Sixers. Thybulle was a much better player.

McDaniels-Thybulle was a tax ducking move disguised as a talent grab.

Exactly. Paid for Joshy’s new yacht or a slug of the down payment for the Commies.

True, but he does have the unpolished skillset to be exactly what they would want. I think a full off-season of development for him will be helpful on a contenders system. Clearly not a great shooter, but did finish at 40% for Philly, you just want more consistency with the offensive package as a whole.... Has deficiencies as a defender, but has the athletic ability and size you want... Just needs discipline there.
One thing about Philly is after some moves last year, they can have some level of improvement with players like McDaniels improving. Melton has room to improve in the same sense with consistency on both ends. Reed as well. Springer could become a factor and of course Maxey could become an all star. Also could see House being a bigger factor, as well as Tobias. To go along with the philosophical changes with a new staff. So, I can see why running it back to some degree is an option. They did have the 3rd best record in the league, but many players have to improve and roles defined differently. Mainly Maxey has to become more of a focus
