I’m not a Scoot believer. I get the hype but I don’t believe it. He looks like an athlete with a weak shot, defense and playmaking. I’m sure the thinking is that he can improve in those skills.

I like the Kris Murray pick. We need some size that can play. Not sure I would have taken him there but pretty solid pick.

Not sure what to think of the last pick, haven’t seen him play have only heard third hand opinions.

I’m not crazy about the draft but I’ll reserve judgement until I see if follow on moves make it make sense.

It was in response to Miami’s leak of “focusing on Lillard.”

An obvious troll response to their “indirect” tampering.

Wait....toronto fans are dissapointed here? Why?

As myself and others said, Portland was *always* going to pick and keep #3. Sure on the < 3% chance a high end star becomes available you never say never, but the chances of that happening were slim.....any statements cronin made were keeping that possibility open, but nobody was really counting on a player like Embiid saying he wants out lol.

Toronto was never a good fit for Portland because Portland in an OG or Pascal trade because Portland doesn't have pieces they are willing to trade that Toronto would have wanted for those players. Portlands two main trade carats in that case would be Simons and #23, and Toronto would be right to not want those pieces for Pascal.

There was never going to be any trade of #3(look at the history of such trades), and even if there had been it wouldn't have happened between portland and toronto.

There's isn't a great track record for guys who go to the G-League either. It feels like those guys need another year to first unlearn everything they learnt there and rebuild their games like Green lol.

They asked "was 3 an option at any point" in which Bobby responded "go ask them" while chuckling. If I'm reading the tea leaves, kind of feels like we had serious interest in that third pick but Portland (as many have noted) had zero interest in trading it. Reinforcing that it was all just lip service for Lillard

With the Haynes Siakam news, Siakam wasn't going to commit to anyone (why should he if hes being traded) and so that hurt his value

But POR wasn't going to do that deal anyways

as I said few times, POR was just going to flirt to make Dame happy, but end up taking the BPA as they did last year

the breakup is inevitable

I wonder if Portland could have the best of both worlds. They do still have some young players/assets they could move without completely demolishing their future. Kind of how a lot of us were clamoring for the Raps to do a soft rebuild, the Blazers could do a soft contend.

Portland has Simons, Little, Murray, and a decent amount of draft capital. They could still go out and get a high end role player to appease Dame while also maintaining their youth. They can also go scorched earth and rebuild. Not a terrible position to be in.

That's pretty much what got them into their treadmill mess for the last decade.

In the end, these big trades tend not to happen because the risks are high. The FO wants a lot for Siakam because there are few stars in this league and eventually getting one back isn't a given.

The Blazers are in the same boat with draft capital. Dame doesn't have much runway left and unless a true ultimatum is made by him, playing it safe and treadmilling remains the more likely option.

You need a catalyst to make these trades happen and there isn't one on either side (Siakam signaling the opposite, and Dame not commiting).

Portland was *always* going to take and keep #3 and then let dame pick what he wants to do. If dame wants to play with Sharpe and Scoot, fine. If dame wants a trade to a preferred destination, portland will give him that(even if they don't get much in return). It's all up to dame.

What Portland was *never* going to do was trade #3 unless it was about one of 5-6 guys(so they werent going to trade it lol). That's the only thing they would have never considered doing for Dame.

Anyone who ever thought #3 might be moved for a top 20-30 veteran player in the nba just isn't familar with how the history of nba trades in the part of the lottery work(especially when attached to specific picks)......

Yup. lol this thread was entertaining, the Raptors have better odds trading for Dame then they ever did the 3rd pick. Masai wants to win now and Portland wants to keep its young assets and rebuild.

So Portland has taken the mantle of biggest **** in the league.

Still hot on the trot for OG and Siakam and now back to leaking they want them after trashing them heading into the draft.

If Scott and Sharpe are off the table then what is there to even talk about?

Scoot and Lillard sharing the same backcourt is not tenable long term.

Based on Lillard's age, I concur.

Don't mind me while I dream of my "best case" scenario:
S+T FVV
Trade for Lillard in a package centered around Siakam
Keep Scottie, OG, Grady, Poeltl, Trent

Dame and Siakam would be lethal together. The problem is neither team will have enough depth after acquiring one of them.

Completely agree. This is where my hope is in MU to pull off another "Kawhi-like" deal and maintain our key pieces other than Siakam, and possibly bring in more depth. Personally, I'm really not interested in FVV on this team anymore, or having Siakam as the #1.
