He played full time SF all of last season, with Vanderbilt/Olynyk/Kessler at the 4/5.

Wont it be ~$19m after the Gay salary?

the hawks had an existing trade exception from the justin holiday trade that juuuust snuck gay's salary in - thanks to the new increase in TPE matching increasing from $100K to $250K.
both the new CBA and new season (for salary matching purposes) kick in July 1 so the deal will have to be made official after then.

true but they could have gotten nothing for him and let him leave in FA. so all in all, they got a 2nd rounder

I suspect Collins is going to get more time and touches in Utah. Ainge basically got a free asset and dumped Gay in the process.

No offense, but I dont get this logic. Collins will be making 26 mill for the next 3 years, so in a sense its almost like the Jazz signed him for $75M+ /3 years (or $23M / 3 years if you discount Gay's salary). There's nothing free about that.

I wonder if this is the first part of a 3way deal that sends some more stuff to Utah to cover the salary dump, if not, I think it's a bad trade for the Jazz.
