I'm not at all excited about him for the 1st half of this season. But if he is a hard worker, then I expect him to be part of our rotation around the all star break. I'm talking about 10 minutes a game for defensive reasons and to bring energy with his defense. So I have low expectations for him this year. Not saying he won't exceed those expectations.

Overall I'm excited about this rookie and what he can do for this team. Everyone knows about his defense, but I like his offensive potential as well. I think he is an underrated offensive player.

Yes, he’s probably only getting a two way. But maybe the following year he will get a shot. Some people think JD could be in the rotation this year.

He apparently doesn't realize the culture of consistent intensity and D is supposed to be going from him to the Jays instead.

Bringing intensity/D/energy in a game every time you step on the floor (which Walsh can do) is just a component in building a winning culture. I understand his sentiment. He's a 19-yo kid coming into an established team that's made 5 ECFs in the last 7. He HAS to look up to the leaders of the team. If the Jays still don't understand what it takes to build a winning culture and how to foster a winning environment both on and off the court, we are royally ****. The guy's a 2nd round rookie. Let's temper our expectations here.

Pretty clearly the J's don't understand it.

Of course a 2nd-round rook isn't being expected to come in and be the team leader. But they are looking for him to add some much needed toughness to a team that its two top players haven't been providing.

I think everyone here has realistic expectations for Walsh. No one is saying he's gonna be a star. Everyone just thinks he's a guy who can bring intensity/D/energy - which you even said he can do..
