Re: The Guards
Howard is taller (just barely) when they stand next to each other like that, so much hair for Black lol.
He's smaller in that one pic because he's turned sideways and behind him.

Re: The Guards
There is some variation on list heights, with 247 and ESPN going with 6'7. Rivals goes with an outdated 6'5 and EM Scouting splits the difference at 6'6. Weight is where the bigger discrepancy comes in. Rivals and ESPN go with 180 and 185 pounds. It only takes one look at Jett to determine those numbers are nowhere near accurate. EM Scouting gives him 210 pounds, while 247 goes all the way up to 220. For context, Jett checked in at 6'5 (without shoes) and just a tad under 194 pounds at the 2019 Nike Elite 100. It's safe to say he's put on at least 10 pounds since then and likely grew up inch.
It was 4 years ago,but i 100% don't belive he is 6'8, with or without shoes.
Probably like Okeke, college 6'8 who over summer grew to 6'6

Probably around 6'7 (with shoes) 'cause he's smaller than Coach Mose who is 6'8.
Sometimes people just look bigger or smaller on court though. Caleb Houstan and Giddey are "same height" but looked like he was getting dwarfed by Giddey. Anthony Black and Jarace looked same size at NBA Draft even though Jarace measured slightly taller - could just be shoes but it's funny how one is PG/SG and one is PF/C.

Look at their chin lines in multiple photos. Black is clearly taller than Howard, and Howard is clearly no where near 6'8".

Still not really seeing it. This is the most even photo as they're shoulder to shoulder on the same levels. At best they're the same height, but Black is putting his chin up a little and has like 2 inches of hair. Whatever it is, it's not as bad as that one photo makes it look.

It's clear Howard isn't 6'8 though, both are probably around 6'7 with shoes.
It doesn't really matter though lol. They've both got good size for their positions.

Re: The Guards
I'm listening to an old pod squad episode with Mosley. He gushes about Fultz.
Calls him an artist. Mentions that he's team first but when he needs to dominate he's able to.
Those are exactly the qualities that stand out from the eye test.
It isn't going to be easy to move on from Fultz.

Giddy looks a lot taller because he’s never gotten down in a low defensive stance in his life

The FO likes Fultz, the players like Fultz, the coaches like Fultz.
There's a very loud minority of people on here that don't like him (or just like him as a bench guy, which is fair) but even other Magic discussion places don't mind him really.
However, I think most people still realize unless he pulls a Vuc-level improvement from a decent starter to someone you can't take off the floor, then he shouldn't be automatically penciled in as the future.

I can tell you who doesn't like Fultz:
any advance stat under a Sun.
Damn analytics, so much bias and hate toward poor little Markelle.
btw "vocal minority" thing isn't true. Most people with funcional brain who aren't Magic fans would tell you in 2023 having PG who refuses to shoot and also can't shoot 3s is bad thing.
Most people who love Fultz tend to be "Championship Elfrid" fans, witch ofc, comes as no suprise.
Fultz is nba backup who happends to start. Just like some random Raymond Felton started 700 games in his life despite fact he was clear "not starter" material.

I'm curious if Fultz and Black can coexist. While I don't think Fultz gets an early extension I do expect to see Fultz and Black on the court at the same time.SOUL wrote:eyriq wrote:I'm listening to an old pod squad episode with Mosley. He gushes about Fultz.

Re: The Guards
Lol all I said was reddit/Twitter aren't as harsh on him as here and I'm getting dissed about Elfrid?
Didn't even say Fultz should get extended or not either, just basically that from all we've heard from people, he is very well-liked.

This is why Fultz will be traded by the season starts or cut, so he doesn’t ruin Anthony Black.
Fultz is no leader and no example to be followed
His slightly improved play over terrible already cost us Scoot
He’s not going to be allowed to ruin Black and potentially Howard as well
He needs to retire or go to a team where one of their key young players was a bust, and mentor them to be a little bit better.

Re: The Guards
I really don’t dislike Markelle. I think he’s a genuinely good dude. I just don’t want him to be making good starters money when his skillset is that of a backup point guard.
It’s just too easy to scheme against such a player in 2023 and there are too many other options. I honestly wouldn’t even care if he was the backup, but we all know that’s never going to be an option with the contract he was already handed.

I feel the exact same way. I like Markelle as a person. I respect how hard he's worked to get back from his issues and injuries.
But the time for feel good stories is over. The Magic shoveled through the crap of a painful rebuild and thanks to some good fortune appear to have found two actual franchise building blocks. Now it's time to surround those two guys with guys who fit them.
I just don't think Fultz a good fit as a starter on this team. It's nothing beyond that and certainly not personal.

The best players on this team are half-court guys...if Fultz could be retained on a reasonable (backup) salary, and he was willing, he could lead a wild change of pace second unit for a different look. As much as I am hard on his game, he could be very effective and fun in that role. I don't know enough about Black to judge if he's a better fit in a primarily half-court scheme, but my assumption is that his height and court sense (and the fact that ORL took him at #6) make him the choice to start, eventually. Depending on matchups, it's not inconceivable that the run and gun lineup might get a lot of minutes...I just don't think that's our usual plan.
IF Cole and Fultz were to accept off-the-bench roles and commensurate pay scale, we could keep them...I don't see it and I wouldn't blame them.

Re: The Guards
I think Fultz helped us win games. He's not top 15, but there are not 30 PGs in the world better than him that I know of.
If he's truly team first and unselfish I'm intrigued by a long-term relationship.
Edit: He's not going to be a reason we are an above .500 team though, it will be in spite of him tbh, unless he's running the bench unit.

You cannot be a top 30 point guard in the nba without a shot and without the ability to run both outcomes of a pick and roll. Period.
