Declining Prince likely takes the Wolves out of contention for the Washington PGs. I'm curious to see who Connelly targets in free agency, my guess at the moment is DiVincenzo. I'm hoping we can find the next Bruce Brown (i.e. a good rotation player that is undervalued).

DDV seems the likely target as of now.

I’m a little surprised Prince was cut. I understand having less minutes for him, but his teammates liked him, he would maintain continuity, an extra big wing if you try to contend is useful, and his contract could be traded for salary matching.

Here’s where I have us:

Free Agents: Jaylen Nowell is gone. Austin Rivers likely gone. NAW (?) MacLaughlin ($2.3) and Knight (?) may return.
Room Under the Lux: $17.7 with 11 players for the guys above or free agents with part of the MLE.

Vet min deals are $2 mil
Full MLE would be $12.4

PG’s.
Tre Jones I love.
DLo I hate
Pat Bev? I think his time has run its course.
Dennis Smith Jr will always be a question mark to me
Javon Carter would be great, but I doubt he can be pried away.

SG’s
Bruce Brown, DiVincenzo’s interesting, and there may be some whispers about Caris LeVert already

Who else?

Schroeder is solid as well.
Gabe Vincent.

I still like Corey Joseph as a veteran 3rd pg, especially if we don't upgrade Jmac.

Also think we need a little shooting so Seth Curry, Struss, Watanabe should be looked at.

So one of my biggest questions is:

Suppose we use the MLE on a SG. Can we get enough playmaking from SloMo and a developing Ant to go into the season with just Conley and JMac as the only two PG’s on the roster?

I really appreciated his time here but we need to fill another spot...

Now, my wish list is:

Bruce Brown
Di Vincenzo
Tre Jones
Pat Bev
Jevon Carter
"...I want to compliment him, we all expected that he would take up the game, we have prepared the plan race on him, we have doubled. And, as usual, he did what he wanted..."

The question I'd be asking is who the Wolves could get at $12M that would be better than NAW at around $6M (plus another $6-7M player)? I think NAW can serve as a part time PG next to Ant which looks like it could be important since we currently have no good options beyond Conley (and some point-forward minutes from Anderson).

I'm looking at signing NAW and 1 of the following (in order):

Jevon Carter
Donte DiVincenzo
Aaron Holliday
Dennis Schroder
Coby White
Ty Jerome
Dennis Smith Jr.
Tre Jones

Would also like to fit Garza in there somehow as well.

I would LOVE to get Bruce Brown, but I don't see him being a real option. Taking that off of the list, I guess Donte DiVincenzo could be a solid option, but I kinda think that isn't a huge upgrade from maintaining the flexibility of Taurean Prince.

I don't know much about Holiday or Jerome, but varying degrees of interest in everyone else.

If the Wolves waive McLaughlin and Knight and leave one open roster spot, I believe they could re-sign NAW along with 2 additional $5M players (maybe Keita Bates-Diop and Dennis Smith).

Better positional value though unless they have a Gobert or KAT trade loaded up. If Naz is gonna take Anderson's PF minutes, then Anderson will take Prince's SF minutes. A combo guard would fit better than a combo forward.

It is happening!!! Offer 21 mil for 3 years to Tre Jones. Resign NAW for 18 mil for 3 years.

Gobert/Reid/Anderson
Towns/Anderson/Miller
MCD/Moore/Minott
Edwards/NAW/???
Conley/Jones/NAW

I'd do that, but I don't see how the Spurs wouldn't match 7M/year. They have plenty of room and that's an easily tradable contract if they decide to move on.

We don't have to pay the full mid-level to a single player do we? We can break it up can't we?

I hear we're interested in Delon Wright and Monte Morris the Washington PG's. They both make around 9 mil. Maybe we make a trade there?

For example, for the four spots, if we went Full MLE, MacLaughlin, vet min, it’d leave $4 to offer NAW.

We need NAW to come back. I think he'd jump at the 4 mil. We gave his career new life and he likes it here.

We were Interested.

Who are you trading for them? Once they turned down Prince, it effectively ended that possibility. Unless you're willing to give up Kyle Anderson to make it happen.
