Re: 2023 Off-season Thread
How do you guys feel about Kenyon Martin Jr?
3 years in the league. Guy is extremely efficient from 2, and has had 2 years where he was decent from 3. Really hard to judge him on whatever the Rockets have been since he was drafted.
I really want to make sure we load up on forwards this summer. And I'm sure he could be had for a few 2nd round picks. Let him and Edwards fight over a spot.

Also saw a great take about Dillon Brooks.
Last 4 seasons

Was always tasked with guarding the best player on the other team. Showed up big the past two years in the playoffs. Suddenly he challenges Lebron, and all of social media goes crazy labeling him a bum. Memphis didn't lose because of him, he's a role player. They lost due to injuries, and under performing team wide.
Not sure I want him in Sac, because he doesn't address any rebounding concerns, and can't really shoot. But his defense is far superior to Harrison Barnes, and he brings a toughness this team lacks. If he is one of our free agent signings, I really wouldn't be mad about it.

I would love to see KJ Martin in a Kings uni, I think his game would fit in great with us. Honestly, Brooks wouldn't be the worst move but I'm not a huge fan.

I hope y’all just keep getting better. Kyle Kuzma is not the answer to get better. Stay away especially at the price you would have to pay. He is inefficient, he chucks, he just isn’t it.
Actually I watched all the Wizard games on League Pass and Kuzma would fit them perfectly ..... He plays downhill and attacks the basket. Kings want to let the ball fly and that he does . Kings could use his length and rebound and go style of play.
A lineup of Sabonis,Kuzma,Murray ,Huerter ,Fox would enhance their gunslinger style of play

There's a difference between let it fly and just shoot it.
If you look at the Kings' offense the ball simply doesn't stick, it's more about ball movement, movement without the ball, than simply shooting it. That's the beauty of it.
The Kings need a guy that can take over at times, but not at the expense of the overall game and I'm skeptical Kuz is that.
The only time that it did last season was when Fox and Sabonis weren't in the game.

Re: 2023 Off-season Thread
Josh Hart off the board completely.
Josh Hart has exercised his $12. 9 million option for the 23-24 season with the New York Knicks.
Hart will be eligible for up to a four-year, $80 million extension beginning in August.
The Knicks will have more flexibility in free agency
Guessing DDV heads to join his college buddies, and then Hart re-ups for 4/80 in August.
I know.. I know... Sabonis isn't Josh Hart. But this is what goes into winning basketball. Delay your extension 1 year so that way we can add some pieces to the squad. Again, I know Josh Hart isn't near Sabonis level, but this is what I want to see from the team. Add pieces and then Sabonis will want to stay.

Re: 2023 Off-season Thread
Another 3 years of watching Harrison Barnes have a good month only to disappear for 2 months. I like him, but I did not want him back at all. He solves none of our defensive/rebounding issues, and his 3pt shooting isn't all that. This contract is too much for a bench role.
Run it back minus Holmes/Davis/Delly/Metu, add Sasha/Jones and some random center/pg.
I'm sick

Re: 2023 Off-season Thread
Under the new CBA, this deal does allow HB to still be traded during free agency but according to Amick, this deal includes a 10% trade kicker.

Since I can never be happy, I'm going with option 2. Room for Sasha.

I think they can do both lyles and Sasha and still have room for one more?
That one more better be good and worth the difference of Barnes and Kuzma/Grant or whatever upgrade

Depends if that money goes to Sabonis right now or not. Without the Sabonis early extension, then yes they should still have room for 1 more guy.

Anyone judging the Holmes trade tonight is jumping the gun. What move comes next is the additional salary space.

Re: 2023 Off-season Thread
I don't hate the Barnes signing but I will say it's a bit underwhelming. That was clearly the spot to improve this off-season. Hopefully we can find someone to supplant HB in the rotation. Barnes off the bench is a wonderful asset.

But the next move really decides it.
If the plan is run it back, then the doubters were right. Vivek had Monte sell the pick to save money.
If they use this 18 million to go get PJ Washington or Bruce Brown, and still re-up Lyles, then it was an A+ move.

Even with it. I thought they didn’t need to dip into their active cap to sign those two?

Sounds like they can
1. Bump Sabonis salary + Extend, resign Lyles, use room on Sasha.
2. Wait on the Sabonis extension + use 18 million in cap space + resign Lyles
Not sure on the Sasha signing for part 2.

Other side to the coin. We have no idea if Monte even wanted him. Maybe he put a feeler out and Kuzma team said they think they can get x amount, and Monte had him worth less. There seemed to be a ton of smoke around Kuzma to Sac, it flamed out quickly and turned to Houston.
Houston can sign FVV + Kuzma to big money deals. Likely more than Monte was willing to pay.

Re: 2023 Off-season Thread
According to Stein, Houston will pass on Kuzma for FVV + Dillon Brooks. It'll be interesting to see how the market plays out for Kuzma. Personally I'd rather have Barnes at $18m than Kuzma playing ball stopper at $30m. HB's contract is reasonable enough to where he can transition to the bench before this extension ends.
