Kings must've gotten a feel that signing the big name FA's is unlikely and better to retain a big part of their team

Harden still shows up the next day despite what he does in his off time. What Kyrie does in his off time keeps him off the court at times.

Yeah... I'd prefer that still. Because we'd still have Booker, Beal, KD. As opposed to Harden shooting 2/14, 3/14 , 3/13.

Make this happen. You know how umm...excited I get for big men who can dribble the ball. He would also fit our physical profile. But maybe he will not be ready by the new season from his ACL tear last year.

Glad Payne is guaranteed.

I don't want either of Harden or Kyrie, unless Kyrie takes the minimum. Really hate the thought of giving up our starting center for another small guard.

You guys need to drop the Bender nonsense. He was 1 of the worst picks in Suns history. He's doing "OK" in some backwater Euro league......who cares?

Onto players that matter, if Harden does get moved to LAC I think that means that we can get Russ for minimum as no one besides us would be remotely interested in acquiring him.

It has to be either us or LAC for him. If it was Houston, they can sign him outright and have no reason to offer the Sixers anything to trade. Their owner hates Morey and would relish sticking it to him like that.

I dont think anyone expected Bender to contribute immediately.
It was abit unfortunate that other bigs he was compared to (Porzingis) etc, excelled immediately - and probably set the expectation too high on Bender.
Would definitely consider Bender on a cheap deal, maybe 2 years + Team Option.

So the Kings really did dump the 24th pick with Holmes for nothing. I guess they still have some room to work with but they were probably hoping for a bigger splash than resigning their own guys.

Yeah! This free-agent market is pretty shallow, And they had an interest (along with Portland) in Draymond Green. But a big reason that GS moved Poole for Paul (to eventually waive/stretch) was to reduce their tax and the cap hit when they resign Green to the extension he's seeking. I'm guessing one last big run with their big three in Golden State.

Yeah! We really should've looked to try and move Shamet/Payne for Holmes and the 24th pick! But for whatever reason whiffed on that opportunity. :dontknow:

Blah.

If we get a G-league team, then fine he can come back. I mean those numbers don't impress me much. Wasn't Luka over there-at age 16 and doing twice as good?

We know Bender sucks and couldn't catch on with multiple teams. But let's waste a roster spot for him. Plus, didn't you just say he tore his ACL???

G-League Suns team. That's it.

He'd be like a 3rd string type of guy at PF/C for us at worst imo.

For comparison Lukas euroleague mvp stats were like 16/5/5 for Barcelona...in other words Dragan Bender just might be a certified hooper now.

I think the only thing holding him back is getting healthy at this point.

He's been pretty vocal about wanting another chance at the league and it's clear he's been putting in work. No doubt he's on some scouting lists. But like you said, he's recovering from an ACL. Even worse, it's his second. To be honest it's probably not going to happen because of that, at least this year.

He's probably going to need a year to prove himself again. Unfortunate, but that's how cut throat the NBA is.

Jones should have his name and number on a paper in his wallet though. It really looks like there's something there with Bender.

This is why I suggest looking at vet mins like Dwight Howard, and DeMarcus Cousins (both/ either could bring size, girth, REBOUNDING & PHYSICALITY/ toughness. Or for defense, I'd be cool with an Ayton/Payne/Ish for WCJ/Isaac/ Suggs type return. Adding very strong defense to an already unstoppable offense!! Just play Isaac on limited minutes (matchup only) to save him for the postseason specifically. Definitely see If we could get Bol Bol DET 26' 2nd or DEN 25' 2nd in the deal for taking back Isaac's salary with attached risks!

Me thinks he might want to play with fellow countryman Rui. Now I’m really wishing that JJ had done the rumored deal for Rui and Jae..

Return to Phoenix Suns
