You’re right. I thought Euros made a lot more than they do in general. BAE would be amongst the top salaries. For some reason I thought top guys like Niko made around MLE money.

So a vet min or a tad higher would probably do the trick.

That is the reason a lot of Euro's are rumored to eventually come over to the NBA. The money in general is better or much better depending upon your situation.
But comfort level and family situations often impact that.

Right. They’re also only playing a fraction of the games, so another reason (beyond being lower tier) why salaries are minuscule by comparison.

Why do you think so many NBA guys want to reduce the number of regular season games?

I would like to point out that many fans complain about the Bulls ownership not spending and then are astounded on who they spend money on.

If AK can’t even lock this guy up, that’s pretty embarrassing.

RSP83 wrote:I like this pickup. In my observation, Turkish players have been some of the more resilient foreign players when it comes to finding their place in the NBA and keeping up with the grind of long nba seasons.

Guys like Hedo and Memo Okur worked their way to borderline All-Star peak despite starting their career as role players. Then there's guys like Osman and Kanter (via Kentucky) who stuck around and become rotation player. Ilyasova became veteran NBA journeyman that provide toughness and shooting. Our very own Omer Asik was a second rounder who knew how to maximize his strength and was pretty solid before career ending injury. Korkmaz the "Chicago Bulls Killer" fell out of Doc's rotation last season but before that he's proven to be a solid scorer off the bench. Sengun seems to be outworking Rockets other higher profile young prospects.

I mean Bitim can end up anywhere between Osman or Kutluay (a once Seattle Supersonic Turkish signing. A flop of course). But I like the traits that Turkish player always demonstrate. Their resiliency and willingness to adapt to stick in the NBA. I think they have the least problem in terms of dealing with US or NBA culture shock, compare to other European nationalities.

Again, this is just based on my very casual observation. Take it with a grain of salt of course.

I don't think he gonna have any culture shock at all , he went high school in the US and can speak English

Makes me wonder if what’s being discussed is an actual roster spot and not a two way contract.

Based on everything else going on, I'm definitely leaning towards this not happening at any level.

I've been following him since he was 15/16. Back then he was considered the 3rd best player in his age group (after Doncic and Dzanan Musa) and was the most athletic (white) european guard I had seen at that age. Was also considered a bigger talent than Furkan Korkmaz and Cedi Osman, the other two turkish wings.
Then went to the US to play High School with MIles Bridges but unfortunately his development stagnated for a few years but finally starting to show the potential he had again

Here are some of his Highlights from when he was 16. Just crossing over dudes and dunking on everybody

Yeah i knew this could be a fluff piece we only have 3 2 way contracts.

Terry is now 1
Lewis
and the UC Center that's our 3.
So for us to get Bitim we would have to sign him to a full roster spot.

Yeah, he's not coming here. I think we can throw some cold water on this. It was an unsubstantiated rumor.

can you tamper with a Euro? Is that why cold water was thrown on this?

Ugh, so we're using part of our MLE on him instead of an NBA player?

Only way you could tamper with them is if their draft rights were held by another team and you spoke to them to engineer a trade.
Better that than getting Fran Vazquez'd.

If we were actually getting him, then yes, but no worries...doesn't sound remotely likely.
