Under the radar, but Suzy Kolber on that list too, been with ESPN for something like 30 years.

I can't find the clip but during the Finals Breen, JVG, and Jackson were bantering about their own commentary crew. Mark said "We can do this job with only two commentators" and JVG said "We know who they'd choose"

 It can be read both ways. JVG saying they'll choose me because I'm just better at my job // JVG saying they'll choose Mark because he's a company shill.

I like to think the former, but obviously Jackson has the last laugh because JVG was canned. ESPN is only good for their boxscore-checking these days, I hate the narrative driven talking-heads that attempt to be louder or more hot-takey than the other.

I think that was the only time I've ever laughed at a Jackson joke in like a decade of listening to him. JVG was complaining about some call and asking something like why do they even need 3 referees, as there used to be 2, to which Jackson retorted "yeah and there used to be 2 announcers".

That's right! Hahahahha yeah We can do this job with two announcers something like that. JVG's quip back was perfect, My brother and I were in stitches. Do you think that there was some internal discord between Jackson and JVG ? I kind of felt this year's ABC broadcasts with them were a bit more acidic than I recall.

JVG and Jackson have sniped at each other for as long as they've worked together. Hard to tell if they disliked each other or it was more jovial like when Shaq and Chuck take shots at one another.

But that was nothing compared to what JVG and Stan would do to each other - I really hope it goes down for it would be glorious.

Ya, I don't get it. It basically seems that sports fans will complain about all commentary.

None of the people doing games make or break my watching habits.

FFS!! It is somewhat comforting and relieving to read so many other appreciated Jeff Gundy's thoughts, insights, and game calling. If half of us prepared for our jobs the way JVG prepared for his, our companies -- nah eff that -- the world would be a much better place to be. I know dude will land on his feet. As for Jalen... me no kyeah 'bout 'im! Bumboclat! Take ya sweet lil 'air line and them sexy veneers and disappear on small island in the Caribbean for all me kyeah.

Doc Rivers was really good before he started coaching. It's possible that they bring him back.

Surprised about Joon Lee - he seemed like he was on the rise and I bet he wasn't even expensive.

Damn the names just arent stopping. I really liked Pollack. So its seems like ESPN is going to really string out their top tier talent and basically have them on everything, then just have a ton of mediocre to trash talent to fill out everything else.

Once they got rid of Kenny Mayne 6 years ago - I knew no one was ever safe. The cherry on top was trey wingo who was arguably the best employee ever.
