Free agent F Keita Bates-Diop has agreed to a two-year, $5M deal with the Phoenix Suns, co-head of @CAA_Basketball Austin Brown tells ESPN. Deal includes a player option. Bates-Diop will have a chance to earn a starting forward spot.

Here was Gregg Popovich on Keita Bates-Diop back on April 6th. Pop was spot-on in his assessment of carving an NBA career.

KBD came to the #Spurs on a two-way contract in 2020.

He just signed a multi-year deal with the Phoenix Suns.

I can't believe that we have signed KBD for the minimum.

He looks perfect (on paper) next to Book, Beal, KD and Ayton.

27 years old. 6'8 with 7'3 wingspan.

Low usage
39% 3p
Great defender, can cover any 2-3-4 in the league.

Do we need a guy who can guard 1 on 1 though. I'm not sure he's a Bridges type where you just give him the toughest assignment every night. Goodwin, Okogie, Lee are probably the 3 who are specialist defenders above just being good.
