It seems clear tho Cronin is betting on internal improvements and continuity to make the team better than they were.

Man if we did this stupid contract for only 1 more year of Dame it'll be super upsetting

Honestly, who cares? The handwringing over contracts is one of the most pointless things fans do in the NBA. If they trade Dame, then they hand the keys over to Scoot and Sharpe and Grant gets to play with the baby Blazers.

#1) you’re on an nba message board. Who cares? All of us. That’s why we’re all here.

2) his contract is what a stupid team gives out. A team that finished with the fifth worst record in the league just massively overpaid a guy who will never sniff an all star team. Please show me a comparable contract on Denver, Boston, Miami, you know, the SMART teams. This is a signing the Wizards or Hornets would make and it sucks that this is the type of team we are.

Wonder how many FRP we could get if we hail-married a Simmons trade - Simons + Little for Simmons + 2 FRP?

Dont see many other options that have even a slight chance of moving the needle.

As long as it's not a Dame deal, I might be one of the few who likes a Hail Mary Simmons deal. Even at his worst, he can defend most positions and move the rock. He's a fit here. I doubt, though, that he'd come with significant pick compensation.

At this point I’d take a Simmons trade just for something to discuss.

This is the first interesting domino of the FA season…. Raptors are hurting for a PG now and after all these contracts, Simons is looking like a steal of a contract.

If Cronin ever decides to actually log into work, maybe he can call Chicago to unlock some picks, then maybe Simons and picks for OG. Blazers will have to do this dance again next summer to resign OG to a massive contract, but getting OG would be a great fit.

Chad Doing and Dwight Jaynes think a trade is brewing, but other teams are letting their pieces settle before it goes through. If true, who in the world could it be? Why let Watford go? Kudos to Eubanks for putting himself in a great position.

Well. DLo is likely on the market now with the signings in Los Angeles. Possibly Schroeder as well.

But it'd be nice to hope.

He is.

And he would also cost something to trade for him, which knowing Masai is possibly not likely to happen. Especially since the Raptors board just posted there's rumors of him eyeing Westbrook.

Raptors just lost Fred VanVleet. They could use a guy like Simons. Blazers need a PF.

Simons for Chris Boucher and a 1st? Chris can rebound, play D, is a decent shooter. He's pretty long/athletic. He's only ever been a backup for them anyway.

Blazers need a SF. Grant is their PF

He's more like a SF though, pathetic rebounder for a PF. Blazers need to get bigger, not to play Sharpe at PF with PG sized SG, which we've had over the past 10 years....

Portland needs size and rebounding even more than a SF.

I think they should consider Mason Plumlee

Lol @ Rockets signing Schroder as their fix for PG. Welp, forget any deal for Simons to Toronto.

My point still stands that Simons’ contract should be viewed as a steal considering… that.

I’ve been big on bringing Plumlee back to Portland.

More like that was Klutch's bluff, and the Blazers fell for it.
