can their 3 pt shooting get worse?

We’re gonna find out.

Fun fact, FVV not makes more per year than his shooting percentage.

Raptors replace FVV with Schroeder to pair with GTJ? They're so loaded at guard /s

Schroeder is fine in that overpay for contract. They needed another guard, anyway. Ant would be their best guard, and it's not really that close, IMHO.

I have no clue what Cronin is doing. :dontknow:

So far we have added nothing. We did, like many expected, pay a HUGE contract to Grant (5/160), but he was here last year. Meanwhile... we lost Eubanks and gave up Watford, and we have yet to resign several of our last year's players including Thybulle.

Technically so far we’ve swapped Watford, Eubanks, and Reddish for Scoot, Murray, and Rupert

The rest is yet to come?

And start him at PF? That would solve our rebounding problems. Probably make us one of the top rebounding teams in the league. Would be interesting old-school basketball with a PF who can't shoot.

Harrison Barnes is getting 18M and Grant just got 32M.

If Grant was a condition for Dame to stick around - I would say bye to both.

This contract is going to absolutely haunt Portland.

To be fair, Grant is twice the player Barnes is. As expensive as the contract is, let's not talk about Grant like he's a 14ppg player.

Not even close. They are quite comparable.
I'd pick Barnes 10x out of 10 given their contracts.

That's fine... You can disagree.

Just remember that this was completely unavoidable when Portland adds assets to DUMP this contract in ~2 years. If Portland doesn't add assets, Grant will constantly be shopped without being moved (like Tobias Harris or John Collins the last few years).

It is certainly possible, but Jerami could also be a great asset to have around.

Plumlee would be the backup center for Grant is the PF.

It'll be interesting to see who emerges as the starting SF for Little, Walker and Murray are all
candidates for the job.

Any team with Grant at pf cannot make the playoffs unless the sf can rebound or the center is a world class rebounder of which we have neither

Plumlee would be a solid option but he's still not great defensively, it more reflects our limited options that he looks decent out of who is available. I'm bummed about losing Eubanks, though there isn't a ton of difference between the two IMO.

Our team always struggles in free agency so this isn't surprising and I think its for reasons outside our control but still disappointing. Reserving judgement until I see the results of our inevitable Ant trade, but I think the necessity of it means we will be selling low and teams playing hardball.

Honestly it sucks and should've been a move made before tbe draft once we knew we would likely take scoot but at this point I'd rather see anf dealt than take up 1 developmental minute from Scoot or shae

MLE: Mcdaniels/Brooks/Plumlee/.......Wood/Oubre

I'd offer it up first to Mcdaniels & Brooks, then Plumlee as back up plan. Talent wise, Wood/Ourbe would be ok, but I haven't seen much winning basketball there. Probably splitting it up otherwise.

I don’t mind Oubre & Wood offensive spark plugs coming off the bench. They can be a real problem for the other team’s second unit. Doesn’t seem like we’d be able to get both but maybe?

Wood might be able to start at PF with Grant at the 3 as well so I’d prioritize him.

Still don’t know wtf the plan is with Simons but the way things are headed it feels more like we’re keeping him and Sharpe will end up playing some SF minutes.

I'm just going to mention the obvious in that, Harrison Barnes would have needed to want come to Portland, and that he likely signed for a discount to stay where he is. Grant on the other hand... took the bag. Also very important I think is, what position does Grant end up playing for us? I think Grant, and the team are better if he plays the 3 mostly, but If he's our starting 4 next season... we're screwed.

So far the Blazers look worse to me now, than they were last year. Still hedging, and it almost looks like Cronin is pushing Dame a bit by NOT improving this team up to this point. Maybe there's a complicated 4-team trade that includes Harden that Cronin is trying, with Morey, to iron out and get done. I would imagine it wouldn't be easy with just dealing with Morey, but adding a 3rd teams' GM and possibly a 4th... idk. Something quite big is coming still, I think. What, I have no freakin' clue.

Joining Embiid must be on the table right now for Dame, and Miami also seems perfectly ready to pounce... not sure who else. I also MUST believe that Harden is going to the Clippers, but Morey wants Dame and I hate the idea that we are possibly in a waiting game with Morey and Dame both. The chance of players not named Dame getting traded instead of Dame scares the hell out of me at the very same time. Not enjoying this Free-Agency so far, honestly.

It's like the Ukrainian counter-offensive.
