It’s odd to me how much negativity off-seasons bring, just inherently. Idk any more than anyone what our ultimate team direction is, but I know we retained the top, or one of the top free agents in Jerami - who scored a fairly easy 20/game his first year in PDX along with the #3 pick in a decent draft, likely a future top 5 pg.

I get the anxiety about Dame, and money and all that, but - the energy about this franchise is so negative, and it’s like most fans don’t even care about giving Chauncey or the team a chance. I’ve been listening to all available Cronin interviews this offseason, I literally don’t understand how people think he’s worse than Olshey.. whatever. Most of y’all were very bearish on Shaedon last year too, and look out he turned out..

I’m personally very happy about the position the team is in and looking at every single free agent deal so far, to act like the blazers have missed out on anything is hilarious to me.

I’ve seen how quickly emotions change in the league from
A fanfare standpoint, I think we pretty quite easily have a shot at one of the best young cores regardless of keeping Dame or not, to act like trading scoot for lower draft picks was gonna fix anything is foolish, where’s the solutions at people? Looks to me like Cronin is operating sound and thoughtfully.

It's reported Dame has specifically requested a trade to the Miami Heat.

Interesting this all comes down after the Blazers paid Jerami Grant but one supposes, the
team could easily afford to pay Grant after Dame is gone.

Let's see if Portland moves him where he wants to go for he's under contract and Portland
doesn't have to accept an inferior offer from the Heat.

I def think resigning Jerami was a good call no matter what. He’s a good tank commander, as well as has massive values to contenders next year. Not a cancer, not old, not dead weight.. could we ask the man to maybe box out for a few extra boards here and there? Sure..

I Hate what miami can offer but sadly he's likely going there

Throw him up on NBA GM craigslist. 1 lightly used Dame, make me an offer!

Dame + Nurkic for Lowry + Herro + Jovic + 3 1st + 3 Swaps (Yes, this can be done by OKC agreeing to Miami's 1st as a unprotected 2026)

One or both of Herro or Simons gets moved to a third team like SAS, Toronto, Brooklyn, etc

Keep simons move herro imo. I want simoms and scoot to Duke it out fully expecting scoot to win at that competition

One of herro or simons stays here. That’s what completes the young guard core with Scoot and Shaedon. Hope we just keep/commit to Ant and flip herro, make it easy.

I was hoping cronin would figure this out before Dame asked out but the good news is we will finally be faced with the decision we mostly all knew we had to make long before cronin and kolde figured it out.

The good in this: Dame takes up 1/3 to 1/2 of our cap space a lot by any standard but especially for a 1 way player (a really good one but still zero defense).

No hate on Dame he got screwed by portland management for years and deserved better. I'm thankful for the time we had with him in Portland but it's time for both parties to move on. With that said in my eyes he's probably the 3rd best blazer of all time behind Walton and Clyde. Both those guys played defense and while Dame may be our best offensive weapon ever I think the history books will indicate Clyde was still the superior wing. It's def not a knock on Dame as 3rd all time blazer is a pretty amazing feat, but Clyde was better in my eyes

I’m torn between who I’d keep. Simons is a better fit with Sharpe, Herro is a better fit with Scoot.

If Toronto can create a TPE via S&T with Houston they could absorb Lowry in a deal. That feels like a win win for everyone.

Herro to SAS seems like a no brainer too. They can take most of his contract into cap space and he’s be an excellent fit on that roster

Sharpe is 19 and Portlands fo loves him. I dont see how he doesn't fit equally well wkth Scoot tbh. Scoot is pass first and I think sharpe can catch and shoot fine. I guess if we view simons as a 6th man herro could potentially be seen as a better option but I think we know what we'd get with herro whereas simons is more of a possibility to blow up if given an expanded role. Simons excelled in dames absence a couple seasons ago so part of me wants to make sure we aren't giving up something great and the other side of me says herro would be a super 6th man and more of a 2 position/ 3 in a pinch sort of player perhaps

Paying Grant without 100% being sure Dame was staying is so stupid.

Ya, he might be a nice tank commander - but he also might hurt the tank, take touches from the youngsters and eventually become aloof.

Also, trade Simons and Herro plz.

Honestly, Scoot, Ant or Shaedon could be sixth man and it’d all work out.. I’m more a fan of Ants ceiling than Herro - alone I’d keep Ant - swing Herro to spurs as mentioned

I think Portland signed grant knowing what Dame was doing more than likely. Not saying I agree with their logic but supposedly they wanted him back either way

Herro seems more catch and shoot which I wonder if that makes him a superior 6th man to simons. But trading simons could blow up in our face so we'd really have to be banking on Scoot being the man at pg. Honestly sight unseen I think Scoot probably will win that competition if not immediately then by his sophomore season. The fear in my mind is if simons blows up somewhere else but at the same time man herro coming off the bench is a bit exciting assuming we can find a way to swing some firsts for simons.

I think what decides it for me is which guard is worth more on the open market. If teams want herro more I'd gladly swing him to another team for, say, an extra first than simkns would get if we were debating between 1 first and 2 perhaps

Pray for brooklyn brothers (and sister). That is the answer to our prayers. Dame you're under contract we will try to get you to a preferred destination but don't need to accept a vastly inferior offer to land you on one team. I think letting him choose between preferred destinations is the route here, it's doing him a solid by not sending him to Charlotte and doing us a solid netting us a worthy return. I think we could both walk away happy from that

Return to Portland Trail Blazers
