How is it that Harden, with all of his accomplishments, was not able to beat out FVV for that Houston job? Yes he's older than FVV but he's still a better player. Maybe the Rockets felt FVV was more of a stable character and would not be disruptive to the organization.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

It's because the Rockets never wanted Harden. Fertitta just allowed Harden's camp to use the Rockets for leverage.

FVV is now the 14th best paid player in the entire league right after Gobert at 13th LOL

Derrick Rose makes sense as a Ja mentor in Memphis. That’s a good fit.

Some of the free agent signing so far talk about ridiclous! Fred Van Vleet 3 years at 130 million. Jeremi Grant 5 years and 160 million. I know he has improved a lot but1 60 million for Jeremi Grant lol. Bruce Brown getting 22 million per year. How is Bruce Brown worth 22 million per year? Bruce Brown will turn 27 shortly and his best year is 11PPG. And again I like the guy he is a solid player but he isnt worth twice as much De'Antony Melton. God help us.

Desmond Bane gets a 5 year $207 million extension with the Grizzlies and Haliburton just got an extension for 5 years and up to $260 million. Both are really good players but holy ****. Maybe it's actually a good thing that we didn't trade Simmons for the latter.

That's kind of unbecoming of Haliburton to post that, tbh.

You can be sure that Rich Paul is watching this market very closely with an eye on the Maxey deal next summer. If he blows up this season, it could get ugly.

I don’t know if Maxey blows up this year I think we’d just max him without a second thought. The true issue would be if Maxey is largely the same player but plays hardball for a max deal without showing the necessary playmaking improvements.

Can't imagine a scenario where it would make sense to extend a 6'2" 200 pound guy at the kind of money Maxey is due to get.

If Maxey has a De’Aaron Fox-like season (not unreasonable), I think he would be worth that money.

I get what you're saying, but if he puts up 25/6 and shows some shot creation skills, look out.

Back in the day, Duncan was making like $15-17m and guys like Parker and Ginoboli were making like $8-9m each.

If Embiid is making like $50m, I need Maxey in a $25m annual mark, at highest. Otherwise, let someone else pay him.

Parker was making $12.5M/yr which would put Maxey at ~$33M, which is probably in the ball park where he’ll land if a guy like Herro is a good comp.

$25m is my cheapo comfort mark, but a little over $30 is tolerable.

But after Hali and Bane's deals, I'm worried Maxey is going to be asking for annual salary over $40m. Which is ridiculous for a 6'2" guy.
