I would have to believe that Lillard doesn't ask to be traded and to be traded to Miami unless Portland's management says they can get enough from Miami (hence talking to Miami and others already) to make it happen. Both sides (Lillard and Portland) want to look good and they did the best they could for the organization.

He's just making a counter argument to create content other than he's just going to Miami, they want fans of other teams watching/interacting for the numbers.

If you notice... something Miami doesn't have to worry about and is a huge plus for them... he's talking about a GM wanting to keep his job vs do what's best for the franchise. Consistency is usually a key to winning!
