Meh, by the time the Blazers are ready to compete again, I doubt anyone will remember this. Plus their highest profile free agent signing is, who, Evan Turner? So good players are already kind of ignoring them.

They were loyal in giving him that big a** extension. And not dealing him when everyone clamored for it.

You trade him for the best offer. Don't like it? He should've negotiated a no trade clause.

Absolutely spot on the best offer if its maxey/harris n picks thats by far the best offer how the hell can miami get close to that their package is laughable

Where does Herro end up if the Dame deal goes through?

Portland is plenty flush in the backcourt already between Scoot / Simons / Sharpe.

Adding Herro into the equation seems like it'd just get in the way of priority guys to develop. And he's paid a ton.

It says a lot about Dame or Milwaukee, probably the latter, that he has been pretty vocal about wanting to play with Giannis and then says he specifically wants to head to Miami. Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see another "star" next to Giannis here, if we're being real.

If Giannis signed an extension and demanded a trade to Miami, would we be happy with Lowry and Herro just to make one player/agent happy?

I'm thinking Harden to the Clippers, Lillard to the Sixers, Tyrese Maxey and Terrance Mann to the Bucks, 4 1sts and the draft rights to Hugo Besson to the Blazers -- who says no?

Ramona tossed in that nugget about Dame also liking the Spurs. That’s the dark horse we have to root for here.

They’ve given him like 200+ million dollars before the endorsement money to do a job that was mutually agreed to by both parties.

Loyalty is a funny word because I’d say Damian demanding a trade to 1 of 2 destinations might muddy up the definition. After everything he said recently and the Blazers spending a fortune on Grant (yikes), this is doing them a bit dirty. I’m not taking junk assets that does nothing for my business long term.

32 teams in the league, money talks. Gms turn over, new culture can write it off.

It can always get worse.

This is all moot because every NBA team understands what I'm saying and the Blazers aren't going to trade him anywhere without his approval of his new team post-trade.

Pat Riley is still chasing Giannis after the bubble year. First Dame, then add G.

What's he gonna do? He's on a 5 year deal.

If its a contender, why wouldn't he suit up? Suddenly all of the just wanting to compete talk sounds like a farce.

I totally understand what you’re saying.

I don’t think any team will offer significant assets without first ensuring he’d show up. I don’t think that should stop the Blazers from trying despite his Miami preference.

But no. I don’t think it can get much worse for Portland. Not a single player would ever leave a dime on the table to go there. Not Lillard. Not anyone.

I'm sure he'd be fine with a contender. Do you see contenders lining up to make a lateral move for Dame, who's going to be paid out the ass when he's in a wheelchair?

Would Brook consider signing with them if they landed Dame? Not sure if we want to root for it necessarily.

Once one party breaches the trust the other party is released of obligations. And anybody would have given Dame that contract; it's not a substantive act of loyalty to give your best player a big contract. it's not like they could have snubbed him and signed an equivalent player instead. But Dame did have options

Again "money talks" means you have to pony up extra cash to drown out the other noise. That is a material disadvantage.

Dame's thinking Miami but hopefully somebody gets in his ear and convinces him of somewhere else.

Pretty pathetic demand from a guy who's been "all about loyalty" and wanting a superteam to come to him, but loyalty is a dangerous thing in sports.
