NBA To Vote On Technical Free Throw For Flopping, 2nd Coach's Challenge

The NBA Board of Governors will vote on July 11th to approve two changes that would begin for the 23-24 season.


- In-game penalty for flops resulting in technical foul free throw


- A second coach's challenge awarded if first challenge is successful

Technical Free Throw or Technical Foul plus the free throw? BIG difference.

One free throw with no technical foul called sounds good.

Stupid thing, there's already a way to punish flopping: no calling anything, and the offensive team is 5 on 4
Why make it more complicated?

True, but it can stop the offence. Take Lowry, you jumps in front of everyone. That kind of flopping can cause a break in the momentum and create a dangerous situation with a player lying on the floor where everyone is trying to step or land.

I'd say call it like you said, but if it detrimentally impedes the play then it's 1 free throw and the ball.
