I'll forever be pissed at the current FO for putting personal interests over the obvious Haliburton pick and the Knicks franchise.

Two 2nd rounders? At least they're doing right by the CAA.

Blame it on Randle. Had that crap season, so they expected another crap season, so they drafted Obi...

I hope they learn something from this though. They did well with the late picks but when comes to the top tens they seem falter.

Gonna miss the sht out of Obi but I'm happy for him. He's going to have fun with Hali, two of the most skilled likable youngsters in the game today.

IQ must be broken.

I want to add that I'm 100% certain the Knicks worked to get Obi the best possible team to go to. As it certainly was not the compensation but more Obi's preference. If so, it's fair to say, that the Knicks FO just got some additional respect around the league.
The Team could have held Obi hostage for a better deal but they looked after the young man, IMO.

so much for me hoping Randle and/or Thibs might be on their way out.
at least I'm excited see Obi drop 40 on Thibs next season.

What's crazy is, I won't even be surprised if he does. I mean who's going to guard him? Randle?

We traded a guy and so far, don't even have a replacement on the horizon.

Hali will ensure it, as he already has a thing against the Knicks. Watch your heads OMG, Obi's revenge coming to a MSG show near you.

I honestly can't believe the so called Knicks fans who wanted Toppin gone so badly. The guy was such a spark every time he got some burn. Thibs screwed him for years just to overplay his boy Randle who chokes over and over again in the playoffs. I'm not saying Obi was the most talented guy on the team, but he's a hometown kid that wanted to be here and produced when given the opportunity. Wishing him all the best in Indiana and hoping he balls out.

Funnest thread of the week

Randle is still a Knick and outlasted so many players.

I'll be nice and say let's go Toppin too

This is the thing. We can all lament NYK's lack of high draft picks but whenever NY gets a pick inside the top 10 the draft results have been completely underwhelming. The Knicks would have been a far better club if they had just drafted correctly.

In 2018 NY had the 9th pick in the draft. They selected Kevin Knox with that pick. The next two picks were Mikal Bridges & SGA. 5yrs later Knox is almost out of the league (Portland declined his option) while SGA is an All Star and league execs expect Bridges to be one next year.

In 2020 NY needed a PG and selected Toppin with the 8th pick. Haliburton went 5 picks after and is blossoming into all star level PG with Indiana.

So NY had two 10 top picks, two years apart, and recieved exactly 2nd rd picks combined for both.

That's just **** drafting and organizational decision making.

it really doesn't matter who's in charge, the knicks just suck with lottery picks. i know some of you really like him but he aint turning into anything close to a star. we aint drated anybody real good in the lottery for a long ass time.

Not to rehash a 20 year debate, but quick reminder: James Dolan has been in charge the entire time. The mandate from on high has been to win *now* not when these lotto picks develop. No Knick executive has ever valued the lottery except as a shortcut to acquire veterans, which is why a 23 year old dunk champion made the perfect Knick lotto pick without much hesitation or consideration for prospects like Haliburton.

I think it’s pissing me off more than it should because Hali was the right pick regardless of what you were going to do with Randle.. in most situations fans have hindsight 20/20 when these decisions are made…

Almost everyone knew we shouldn’t have drafted Obi with Randle and Thibs here.. not because Obi is Bad, but you couldn’t tell me Obi was BPA over Hali that draft and we needed a guard. ima be rooting for him and Hali cause we deserve all the grief we will get if Obi blows up with an actual real chance.. we never gave him one..

Even if you don't like Obi the misuse of draft picks and asset valuation is horrendous.

They're going to put a bow on all this and trade IQ as well.

He's going to be good with them. They play up tempo and when they're in the halfcourt it'll be Obi that is used as the rollman. He was traded to the best place possible for him with a floor spacing C and a passing PG.

this was a pretty big mistake. but i guess no one wants randle's albatross contract (ik it's not that high but for all the downside you get with him i can see why it's too expensive)

Not really sure how he earned it. People still want Randle traded, and Obi continually outplayed Randle. People said Obi was better than Randle, which still can be true.

He was wrong, he's been wrong. He's only celebrating because his boy Randle doesn't have a better player behind him anymore.

In what world did obi outplay our 2nd team all nba pf?

This is what some of you do. You delusionally hype up our trash youth.

It's the same sht with frank. He wasn't used right. Once he gets trade you will all see. See what? He still sucked and never amounted to sht.

Obi is a trash defender and rebounder and can't create on his own.

Sure he'll get some easy buckets from Hali and might even post some nice counting scoring stats. But he is food on defense and can't rebound and sucks at spacing the floor and cant create offense. That boy is trash.

So we turned a mid lottery pick into two 2nd rounders, doesn’t surprise me
