Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
I know some of you are freaking out about our depth leaving us, but keep in mind that we're promoting Jaden Springer. Phillip Petrusev is going to be on the roster as well. Louis King, Mac McLung, Rickey Council, and Terquavion Smith could possibly get some looks too (Especially Louis King).
We just signed Patrick Beverly. He won't be relied on heavily, but I expect him to be part of the rotation. I can see us signing Terrence Davis or another vet on a minimum contract like Corey Joseph...Of course, as I type this, the Celtics are probably putting together an offer for Terrence Davis (kill me now).
I realize this doesn't excite some of you, but it's what needs to happen now. We need to promote from within, keep quiet and low-key in free agency, and figure out WTF to do with James Harden and Tobias Harris.
Next year is not looking like our year, but nobody had the Heat going to Finals back in April. In fact, the Heat were dead quiet last summer and look how that turned out for them. I just hope there is a plan in place with this franchise. From the outside as a fan, it looks as though they don't currently have a clue, but maybe we're wrong.

PETRUSOV! YOU GIVIN ME FILIP PETRUSOV?
I hope Springer takes a step. We have seen from the NBA in the last 5 or 6 years there's a bit of a higher chance of actual 'development' from guys coming into the league young and not doing much (or not even playing much) and making jumps even after 2 years of 'nothing'.

Yeah, I've heard for Tobias Harris, but it's probably Harden leaving.

Depends on what maximizing your current season looks like.
Yeah, if it looks like bringing back guys like Niang and McDaniels instead of keeping powder dry for someone like Siakam in a year, we good.

The Bulls need a PG. Would they take Harden for Lavine? Doing that would give the Bulls two max slots next summer, I think.

Ok, I'm not exactly wetting my shorts over Petrusev either, but the thought of a stretch big on this roster is kind of cool. The one truth about the NBA is that each and every player CAN PLAY in the league. They are THAT good! If you give these guys minutes, they are going to produce. The tanking process years/era should be a clear indicator of that. Both TJ McConnell and Robert Covington have carved out very long lucrative careers in the NBA all because they were given an opportunity to get on the floor and get some minutes. Either you have it or you don't, but we as fans won't know until they actually get an opportunity. The same goes for Paul Reed. We were banging the table for him to get some minutes and FINALLY Doc caved. Springer, King, Mac, Council, and Smith...I can promise you that at least two of them are going to have long, oroductive NBA careers.

Pascal Siakam bro.

I think we're getting Scottie Barnes too. So it'll be worth the wait. Love Barnes! One of my favorite players in the game. All jokes aside, you guys got a superstar brewing with him.

There is no way you couldn't have worked around a 5M McDaniels contract next summer. Letting a young wing go who still has some upside is just stupid.
Morey is looking cooked. Eric Gordon will be his next signing. It's so predictable and so pathetic.

If we can get Lavine for Harden I think we need to do it. Lavine has his issues, but I doubt we can do better. Still young (28) and in his prime. Great shooter and decent distributor to pair with Maxey. Would hope we can dump Tucker in the deal also.

Let’s hope. Anyway, I think Morey got something planned for this season. Maybe the leverage of the capspace makes it happen sooner in trade.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

If it's about moving Lavine's contract for cap space next summer why would positional need matter?
I really don't see how a 4-way deal where Sixers move Harden, get Lavine. Heat get Lillard... Actually fits where 4 teams are needed.
I could see Sixers/Bulls as trade partners... I could see Heat/Blazers as trade partners... I'm not really seeing the advantage to having all 4 interwoven.
Unless the Bulls are doing some super-dump and you got Tobias & Harden involved with huge salaries being ejected.

He's in year 1 of his deal, we're gonna be in cap hell forever if we trade for him, specially after giving Maxey his contract

Nah, with Tobias expiring we’ll be same spot we have been for past couple years. Over cap but hovering around tax, depending on our supplementary moves.

We'll be in cap hell anyway with 3 "stars". It's a question of whether whatever 3rd star we could possibly get by waiting is better than Lavine or not, along w/the probability of getting said 3rd star.
When you factor all that in, I'd take my chances w/the "bird in hand" in Lavine now. Also I think his value could possibly increase here playing with Embiid under Nurse.
