Unless a surprise blockbuster happens, the big off-season news seems like it’s basically down to just Lillard’s trade demand, Brown’s extension and Grant’s strange RFA situation.

Mavs having a sneaky good offseason. Added 2 good players in the draft who could help short term but probably moreso good long term players to develop (Lively, Prosper). They added Holmes (not very high on him but maybe a change of scenery does him good). Then resign Kyrie, add a sniper to the back court (Seth Curry) and add a wing who could end up being a guy who surprises people by returning to the NBA as a solid contributor off the bench (Exum).

They've had a good off-season on the margins, but the Kyrie signing far outweighs all those shrewd little moves, making for a totally mediocre off-season.

1) Great extension numbers for Porzingis
2) Intrigued by Brissett, and good team friendly minimum contract
3) Brad hasn't been lured into signing stupid money just to make a deal.

1 yep 2 yep 3 well if we had money I'm sure we would have overpaid someone but since we can't afford biscuits and gravy we got brissett lol

I don't see any more big moves for us if we're not a Dame destination. If tax isn't an issue with the owners, just match and bring Grant back. Looking like he's not gonna get more than NT-MLE from someone else. Then add a perimeter defender via vet minimum. Sign Davison and Walsh to standard rookie contracts. Kornet doesn't get guaranteed until January. Keep him for now. There's still potential for midseason trades.

White | Brown | Tatum | Porzingis | Timelord
Brogdon | PP | Hauser | Grant | Horford
Davison | Javonte | Walsh | Brissett | Kornet

I got $192.27M in salaries, about $27M into tax (right around same amount as last season).

BUT IF YOU ARE WORKING ON SOMETHING BIG, BRAD, I WOULD NOT MIND THAT AT ALL.

Should be a fun team with Carlisle coaching. Likely makes playoffs/playin.

In this scenario, the team that made the Finals would just replace Gabe, Strus, and Zeller with Dame, J-Rich, and Bryant.

Yeah this was before the Blazers put out all the reports that they intend to get the best possible deal and plan to look past Miami.

Herro doesn't have much trade value, certainly nothing to make up a realistic Dame level offer.

Could you make Dame happy in Portland again with an all NBA player added? I still like the idea of Brown+PP for Simons, Scoot Henderson+draft assets... throw in what you need to make salaries match up.

It feels a little too far gone but I think he suits up for Portland again this season before Miami.

You guys remember when Kawhi's uncle said Kawhi would only play for the Lakers and won't show up for any other team? This is exactly that scenario, except Dame has even less leverage with the years left on his deal. The team with the best offer gets him and he will play.

Wyc & Brad -

Still time for blockbuster Dame for 7.
We’ll even throw in Grant & Pritchard.

A team that should go for it is Cleveland. Put Garland on the table. Add Wade and it's a match. They would have more than enough to contend for a title right away. Dolla-Spida combo would be deadly and fun to watch (with zero defense). Then wait for Lebron to spend his last season there signing for the minimum.

Spoiler:

CLE:
Lillard | Mitchell | Okoro | Mobley | Allen
Rubio | Strus | LeVert | Niang | Jones

BOS:
Garland | White | Tatum | Porzingis | Timelord
Brogdon | PP | Hauser | Grant | Horford

HOU:
FVV | Brooks | Brown | Smith | Sengun
Thompson | Martin | Whitmore | Eason | Landale

POR:
Who cares.

Brown for Garland? Good lord. I think I may actually give up my Celtics fandom if that went through.

Cleveland is an interesting option for Dame though

Cleveland is an interesting option for Dame though

I would rather just have Dame tbh than Garland but we lose even more depth (Timelord likely). But I would settle for Garland who's also on a cost-controlled contract. Porzingis becomes the team's #2 scoring option but we get an attack PG who can shoot. We'd just lack wing depth and perimeter defense (Brogdon midseason trade here we come).

Dame's never had Spida's backline defense in Gobert and Spida never had a scoring sidekick like CJ. Fun thought experiment. Brown gets his own team and reunites with his old coach. Jalen Green and picks for Portland.
