Anyone who thinks Dame won’t end up in Miami is kidding themselves and will be largely disappointed. We’ll have to beat Miami for a title

I got the trade!

Hopefully Dame accepts the role of 6th Man.

Looking like he's not gonna get more than NT-MLE from someone else. Then add a perimeter defender via vet minimum. Sign Davison and Walsh to standard rookie contracts. Kornet doesn't get guaranteed until January. Keep him for now. There's still potential for midseason trades.
White | Brown | Tatum | Porzingis | Timelord
Brogdon | PP | Hauser | Grant | Horford
Davison | Javonte | Walsh | Brissett | Kornet
I got $192.27M in salaries, about $27M into tax (right around same amount as last season).
BUT IF YOU ARE WORKING ON SOMETHING BIG, BRAD, I WOULD NOT MIND THAT AT ALL.
Sounds good to me. This is a good team. The question is, will we be able to sign Grant for that cheap of a deal?
And Javonte is a good perimeter defender. I'm curious how he's moving these days after all those games he missed last season. Def want to bring him in for a workout to see how he looks before signing him.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

That's because Brad is stealth and doesn't show his hand.

Minor hitch with going over the tax apron: Celtics can't sign Gordon Hayward as a buyout candidate if he's waived since his salary is more than the NT-MLE. Obviously also applies to Giannis if he is waived and we want to pick him up from the bargain bin.

Mainly going off that Twitter insider who’s shooting 90%
That guy said Dame's going to Miami
Pretty sure that was the fake guy who said that. Idk I can't keep them straight anymore

Would you like to bet on it? I'll take the field
I’ll take the bet. Heat is a lock imo, its how Adam Silver’s NBA works
Sig bet then? I have it on great authority that he won't be in Miami

This is a guy who once had USG% of literal 28.8. Not sure if he's the best guy to put next to developing blue chippers.

He barely ever got any playing time last season in Denver. But OKC isn't as good as Denver and has a need for depth at PF so perhaps he'll get some mins in OKC..
If nothing else, OKC will have some good vibes with 2 Australian dudes on the same team (White and Giddey).

I’m convinced Zoya gets 90 minutes of sleep a day. Very impressive

We already laid off 200 more employees so sleep has evaded us recently, yes.

David Robinson, Julius Irving, and Jerry West were all 33 yo when they won their first title. Dame looking to do the same.

Not looking too hard, he listed the Nets as a preferred destination

Ben Simmons + a ton of picks would trump whatever crap Miami offers. Just not sure Brooklyn does it after the KD-Kyrie-Harden saga. They might go the patient route this time around.

Oh don't get me wrong, I think the Nets should be considered a favorite to land him. Just funny that he is talking about only caring about winning and listed them.
From what I've heard, I am confident it won't be Miami. Past that I have no idea.

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread, part 7, 2023-24
First Vezenkov signs with the Kings. Then Micic signs with OKC, then Exum signs with the Mavs.
Who's gonna be the next star from overseas to sign with an NBA team?
Dzanan Musa.
This guy beat me to it lol.
Musa is kind of like Dalano Banton except Musa can actually shoot! Both guys are 6'9", kind of skinny, decent but not great defenders. Can handle the ball, attack off the dribble and pass very well for a dude who's 6'9". Both about the same age (Musa recently turned 24..Banton will turn 24 soon).
Banton has 95 games of NBA experience over the past 2 years, which is a plus for him. But Musa has been a legit star over in Europe for the past 2 years. He helped lead Real Madrid to the EuroLeague title a couple months ago.
And again, Musa can shoot - unlike Banton. About 40% from 3 this past season and 38% the year before that for Musa.
I would definitely rather sign Musa - he has the potential to be a legit 8th man rotation player on a contender. We could have 2 legit scorers off our bench with Brogdon and Musa. Musa averaged 21.4 PPG at the EuroBasket tournament last fall (a tournament where Giannis, Jokic, Doncic, Sabonis and Markannen played in) including a 30 point performance vs Germany (which had Theis, Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder).
And Musa is not just a scorer. He's had about a 20% assist rate for of the past 2 seasons.
Thing is, Musa is probably looking at the $ that Vezenkov and Micic got (around $7-8 mil a year), is probably thinking he is as good as those guys. He's probably not gonna sign for a minimum contract. We'd probably have to give him the TPMLE.
Question is, will we sign anyone to the TPMLE? As of now, it seems like probably not. But if we do, do you sign Torrey Craig, Malik Beasley or Musa? Musa is someone we would have to take a close look at, imo.
I doubt Musa wold sign for just a minimum contract, but if he'll take it, I'd be all over it.
Musa, Javonte or Terence Davis - you get any of those guys for the minimum, it'd be a solid pickup.
Davis might only be willing to take a TPMLE deal, though. But who knows, maybe as the market dries up and teams are getting to the point where their rosters are filling up, he might be willing to accept a minimum deal. And who knows, maybe Craig and/or Beasley even signs for the minimum too.
