I could envision us playing him with Franz for sure.

Well: if the Magic intend to waive Ingles in the offseason, then they are paying him two years salary to work one year. In other speak: the Magic has this money this year to spend.

Carter: 11.95M
Suggs: 9.18M
Black: 7.60M
Franz: 7.00M
Howard: 5.27M
TOTAL: 53.16M

The cap is probably going to rise by 10%, so you're talking a cap of roughly $149 to $150M. The Magic will need to spend a LOT next summer.

Unrestricted Free Agents (3): Fultz, Harris, Bitadze
Team Options (2): Ingles, M. Wagner
Restricted Free Agents (2): Anthony, Okeke
Fully Non-Guaranteed Contracts (2): Isaac, Houstan

Holy roster flexibility batman. You can see the vision that WeHam have for this team right here.

I wish I could, but not seeing it right now. This is year 7 for these guys and they've never given any indication that they prioritize winning over coasting.

They just used two lottery picks on guards and then picked up the options on Fultz and Harris, two under-performers who are projected to start ahead of Suggs and Anthony, two more guards on rookie deals fighting for playing time.

They were top 5 in cap space this summer and signed 35-year-old Joe Ingles. And that's it.

They could have freed up another $10 mil in cap space by finally releasing Isaac, a move that any other team in the NBA would have made, and $13 million more by not picking up Harris.

I just don't buy that at some point in the future they are going to flip a switch and make moves to try to build a winning team. I mean did these guys seriously come here with a 10-year plan, and ownership was ok with that? And fans? And the media?

They're not a serious front office. They just aren't.

Well so far they never prioritized winning over asset accumulation and development but is it a bad thing ? Should they go all in on Vucevic team or rookie Paolo ?
Clearing salary seems great until you look at this years free agents. 40M+ for FVV, or maybe 20M for Dillon Brooks? Even i must admit it was not the offseason to go big agent hunting.
They drafted two guards becouse our backcourt is bad. I will only be worried if any of them gets extension.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Franz needs to improve this season if he wants to get an extension like Bane because currently, he isn't as good.

Oh Rob...
Bane is a way better shooter, and he just averaged 21.5 ppg. Franz needs to improve some this season.

Bane is probably a top 10 SG. Do you think Franz is a top 10 SF?

Franz definitely isn't going to get a super max like Haliburton unless he really blows up.

If Franz were eligible for an extension this season, I would assume he would've got 5 years $180m range. Bane got $207m.

He's considered one of the best young prospects/players in the NBA lol. I fully expect him to get 20ppg this year on solid 48% efficiency. Would love to see him increase is 3pt % again this year to 38% on similar volume 4/5 a game.

I think Franz is already in the top 10 SF discussions.

Franz can have mediocre 15 ppg season and still will sign designed max contract.

And yes, Franz is unquestionably a top 10 small forward. He is a guaranteed max contract my guy.

I'll tell you a secret.

Franz and Paolo's contracts will be for MORE than the contracts signed this week because max contracts are locked in percentages of the salary cap and the cap is only going to increase over the next several seasons.

The salary cap this year is 136M. By the time Franz's max extension kicks in it will be close to $180M. If Franz gets a 30% of the cap max, you're talking a *starting* salary of 54M.

Magic have limited options. I don’t see the Magic not going all in on Paolo or Franz.

Let’s be honest we aren’t a free-agent destination and it’s not changing. We haven’t been serious about competing for the playoffs for so long.

Ingles is a great defender…he’s older, but he’s never been a great athlete…very crafty defender who, assuming he’s really not hobbled by last injury, should age well. He’ll more than hold his own…Paolo & Franz are the ones who need to level up on D.

Similar case I made for FVV…he’s always been short, stubby, and unathletic - and he’s always been a great defender. So a couple years older will have minimal effect.

Apparently, they have different tiers. Bane and Haliburton got max deals, but like $60m, separate them.

No great free agents this year . Magic did the right thing in my opinion . Let’s see what a fully healthy squad can do this season . People act like there was a star free agent . The highest free agent contract is Dillon brooks I’m glad magic are not making any moves like that .
