I have a very strong feeling we would be involved
We might even be the one to get him, we are the perfect fit. Not to mention we are missing a starting PG
These are EXACTLY the moments Masai are waiting to jump on.

We would hope so... He's been sitting around not really doing much of anything since 2019 and I'm not talking about his off court initiatives.
Personally I felt we should have done a rebuild but since we're obviously not doing that then this is exactly the move we need to at least be a big player in.
Lillard might be stuck on Miami but so are a lot of stars at the start of their demand. They start warming up to other opportunity afterwards. Let's see what Masai does here.

We might be signing Daniels as an OG replacement (not that he is) so Lillard can play with Siakam.
Just not sure if Barnes and Siakam can coexist playing in same area. We need more though and much more shooting.

OPJ Trent are reliable shooters imo.
We might be able to get shooters like Malik Beasley for cheap. We need Dame first though.
It is slimy for Portland to do Dame dirty after he stayed loyal for so long but it is a business after all. It makes no sense for Portland to screw themselves over a player who will never put on a Blazer's jersey again. If Miami offers a respectable package then it weakens the team and its detrimental to Dame's success on the Heat. There is a clear conflict of interest between what's best for Dame and the Blazers
I think Raptors can offer the best package that also makes the most sense to Portland.

Then bye bye Scottie, ain't no way a Lillard trade doesn't involve Scottie, well this is swing for the fences move. Will Scottie develop enough in the next 5 years for us to be a legitimate contender? I love Scottie but that's still a long shot, Lillard is proven 1A first option player and locked for the remainder of his career, this could very well be another Kawhi situation, well just wait and see. But the starting lineup is offense heavy with elite team defense, an acquisition of Dame balances out the roster and could legitimately compete for a title.

if you think that a true contender than you are overrating 4 of those guys. Barring Miami and Coach Spo voodoos magic, how does that team beat Boston or Bucks.
Like either of those team have the personnel to take away Dame and once that happens how is this team competing?
Edit: go look at Jokic and Murray stats.

Re: Haynes: Damian Lillard Requests Trade
Why people want Lillard so bad when Harden will come at probably half the price and 2/3rds the salary. I don’t think they make that big of a difference.
Also Lillard staying in Portland was less so about loyalty. Once you live in a place for 10 plus years you establish family friends and a comfort in that area. In the NBA as a super star you get paid wherever you are so I could see the preference to just stay in Portland.

Switch OG with Barnes and we have a Deal. Portland didn't even trade the #7 last year for OG so why should they trade Lillard for OG, who doesn't even fit the timeline with Scoot, Shaedon, Simons. Barnes fits in much better and we keep the shooting and perimeter d next to Lillard with OG.
Barnes will just hang around the corner off ball cause he can't do much without the ball in his hands. And Lillard is a Ballhog.

I could probably get behind moving Scottie for Dame. It's become apparent that we aren't going to build around him, and after his second year, I'm no longer convinced he's a guy to build around anyway. I can't see him being a top 5-10 player in the NBA... maybe not even top 25-30. Under other circumstances I would be fine waiting it out, but seeing him develop into a good second option on a treadmill team is not worth hanging onto. -
If the trade would be Scottie and filler (maybe a 1st and/or some swaps), I'm good with it. Scottie, another good piece, 2-3+ picks and swaps, much less so. So maybe there's no deal. I would consider Scottie to be a better asset than 4-5 late FRP, but the trade market for stars lately seems to be fixated on the quantity of picks, not the quality.
Somewhat ironically, I would have moved everything except Scottie for Scoot - so now that Portland has him, maybe they'll think the same way.
Well I’m sure then you would be the same guy saying to trade Siakam away after his second year in the league because he was so raw and that he can’t possibly become an all star.
If his value was a top 10-15(?) player that happened to be the perfect fit for our roster? Sure.

Re: Haynes: Damian Lillard Requests Trade
Let's please get one thing clear, Dame has shown zero inclination that he wants to go anywhere else but Miami. I know he's tossed out the Spurs, Brooklyn but the deal is Miami. Point blank, that's number one. So I really hope people realise it's just fun theorizing about a possible trade here and not anything close to real.
And I really hope y'all don't actually believe there's any legitimate chance or conjure some hope in your mind based on that zero real proof and then get upset at masai/the FO after the fact for not doing anything after he's traded to Miami. Y'all literally do it yourselves lol. I know it'll happen anyway.

Let's hope Lillard is at least open to the idea of playing here first. I don't get how overrated Herro and no disrespect Lowry plus trash is enough for him. OG is easily better than Herro and we can add more if we really wanted.

I think we get in and make a play for Simons. Not for Dame.

Simons might be the worst defender in the NBA. DOnt see much interest.
Do we even have the assets to get dame? (Assuming Siakam and Scottie are off the table). I just dont think we have the proper depth outside of those 2 to land Dame

If we could get an All-NBA team player Harden it would be great. He’s the kind of scorer the team needs right now to compliment Pascal and hopefully Barnes.
I would also say that teams where the PG is your best player aren’t ideal in the playoffs. The exceptions being when that PG is the best shooter of all time playing with multiple All-NBA teammates like Steph or when the PG is MVP level with the size of a SF like Luka.

I think/hope so as well.
They need to move Simons even if Dame goes. Who comes off the bench between Scoot, Sharpe, and Simons? Two of them need to play to develop and Simons isn’t being paid to sit (and tank any trade value he has).
There was a rumour somewhere around trade deadline that said Simons has fans in raptors FO.
