So, as we currently stand, these are the guys who are expecting a rotation spot:
White, Brown, Tatum, Timelord, Porzingis, Brogdon, Horford, Pritchard

Team likely reserving a 10th man fight between Hauser and Brissett

If they just sign Grant, where does another vet min signing (Javonte Green) secure a regular role? Expected answer is Pritchard or Hauser/Brissett. You can say "screw 'em" sure, but won't agent for said potential vet minimum signing do his due diligence and recognize it's not a good situation for his client.

I still don't think we're done. One more medium-to-big move to make.

Remember when Kawhi said he wouldn't show up unless he was traded to the Lakers? Dame doesn't have the Lebron influence. Portland literally could not care less what Dame wants.

He had said LA. Or at least Uncle Dennis said LA. He still left the Raptors to go to LA a year later. Worked for the Raps since they won a title.

He said the Lakers specifically. Literally said he would leave in a year to go to the Lakers. Clips weren't even a thing until a year later when he teamed up with PG13. Dame also has multiple years left on his deal. He is free to go in like 4 years when he is a FA.

This roster isn't good enough and they know it.

Brogdon/Pritchard/Kornet/Hauser/Champagnie would be enough outgoing salary to take back Herro and Delon Wright. Re-sign Grant too.

Assuming Dame to MIA actually happens do a 3-team with POR and WAS

White / Wright
Brown / Herro
Tatum
Porzingis / GWilliams
RWilliams / Horford

2nd apron be damned, I love that team

I should have figured this out already, but do we have any trade exceptions to work with rn?

edit, acc to this site, a $1.8m exception and a $500k exception, so not really

Shouldn't be compared to KD and Harden, tbh. Harden and KD left stacked teams. They played with MVP-level players. Best player Lillard's played with was Aldridge and that was eons ago.

C's are high on Davison too. Wonder if he ends up being the third guard behind Dame and White.

They got a huge package from the Lakers. Nobody in the league could beat that package. Heat have jack **** to send out.

No shade to Dame for wanting to leave Portland, but trying to then force yourself to a single team is crap. Even Kyrie when he left the cavs gave them a list of like 6 teams. Not that the Cavs traded him to any of them lmao

Especially one just coming off a finals appearance. My opinion on Dame has dropped pretty significantly. I haven’t been in favor of trading for him the last few years and I’m not necessarily upset he wants Miami but he did Portland pretty dirty here.

Lots of flip flopping, sending mixed messages and I doubt he really tried his part at this point to get free agents to Portland. Then he saddles them with Jerami Grant for 5 years.

He’ll almost certainly get his way. This may be an unpopular opinion but if players want these massive contracts they should be held more accountable. I wouldn’t even hate a rule that prevented some contracts from being traded at all.

Lillard and Harden available at the same time is a lot for teams to negotiate.. especially because those two have the leverage to get on the same team if they wanted to

I thought we can't resign Grant unless we trade Brogdon? Wouldn't we go over 2nd apron if we did this?

Also, by my count we only we have 11 under contract right now. brown tatum white brogdon rob al KP brissett pritchard kornet hauser is 11.

Or are you counting Champagnie too?
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

No chance imo. He got both the bag and the years on that deal.

Whistling tunes, we're kissing balloons in the jungle...

The Contract

Lillard is making $45.6 million during the 2023-24 season so the Celtics would need to send out just over $41 million in a deal for salary-matching purposes to make the money work.

Offer 1: Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, Payton Pritchard, Luke Kornet, salary filler, three future first round picks and additional pick swaps/second round picks for Damian Lillard

Analysis: This is probably an offer that gets topped by any team willing to include a star-level young player and/or elite picks but the Blazers get a good contract here in Williams, could spin Brogdon for other assets and bank on some long-term draft capital from Boston. It’s a better offer than the Heat but unlikely to top other deals the Blazers see in negotiations. Still, its an offer worth making if other teams drop out of the mix.

Offer 2: Malcolm Brogdon, Derrick White, three future first round picks

Analysis: This might as well be a three-team deal since the Blazers backcourt is already stocked with young guys for the future even after Lillard’s exit. However, the Blazers may not be offered a better value contract in any deal than Derrick White at this point who the Celtics would surely hate to give up but that’s the price of a superstar at times. Again, it’s debatable if Brad Stevens would even be willing to make this offer but the structure of it works. The Blazers could then turn around and pile up at least 2-3 additional first round picks and/or younger players by dealing White and Brogdon.

Offer 3: Three-team trade involving Jaylen Brown going to a different destination.

Analysis: This hypothetical comes off the table the second that Brown signs an extension (since he can’t be traded for a year afterwards). Still, any trade involving Damian Lillard would mean the Celtics would be dealing at least one of Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis after next season for financial reasons. If the Celtics would rather keep their supporting cast intact, they could theoretically use any assets acquired in a Brown trade to a third team and repackage those to the Blazers (along with about $10 million in additional salary).

Yeah it's kind of accepted that we are probably going over the second apron at this point. Nothing good available with the mid level
