No chance imo. He got both the bag and the years on that deal.

and no one has cap space left. No chance.

I thought we can't resign Grant unless we trade Brogdon? Wouldn't we go over 2nd apron if we did this?

We can re-sign Grant (either match an offer from another team, sign him to new contract, or he accepts QO) but whatever number he signs at most likely gets us over the second apron if Brogdon isn't dealt. We only lose the TP-MLE.

Assuming Dame to MIA actually happens do a 3-team with POR and WAS

White / Wright
Brown / Herro
Tatum
Porzingis / GWilliams
RWilliams / Horford

2nd apron be damned, I love that team

Don't forget about Brissett :)
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

It’s probably worth losing the TP-MLE if it means keeping Grant. I doubt will find anyone better for the TP-MLE than Grant.

I would maybe look into trading Grant (s&t) and PP to Utah for Dray Green (s&t) and Vernon Carey. Think that would work cap wise. Obviously, Dray & Grant would need to be agreeable. I'm not sure Dray plans to leave GS and also not sure Grant wants to move to Utah and play alongside Lauri & John Collins.

I want Dray tho, if he's open to us.

edit nvm me

or trade Brogdon and get a good player, resign Grant Williams and use the MLE

Curious as to what Rockets have the $12M cap space they opened up is earmarked for. They're not done yet.

He already re-signed with the Warriors for 4 more years.

My feeling is regardless of Dame, Brad isn't done. Dude isn't grabbing Brissett and calling it a day, especially with the JB silence

The best option right now to re-sign Grant. We can make trades at the deadline with Brogdon/Grant/PP contracts if it’s not working out

As in the general public of Miami? Crazy why that might be

Unless you're saying like beat guys but that would be directly contradicting Woj

This is what Forsberg's article yesterday said:
Boston’s free-agent focus shifts back to Brown now. The team was able to put a five-year, $300-plus million supermax deal in front of him as soon as the calendar flipped to July. Both sides have motivation to put ink to paper.

If a player wants to stay put, signing the most lucrative contract ever should be a no brainer, especially if you're far from the best player in the league. I don't think you want to push your luck trying to negotiate a player option or other frills. Likewise, not signing that contract quickly might signal the Celtics that trading you now would be a good idea before your value starts to go down.

if desmond bane is getting 40m per, it's tough to argue that jaylen isn't worth 60.

Hmm. Do you guys think Brad will actually do that, though? Go over the 2nd apron for Grant Williams? A guy who was getting DNP's in the reg season and in the playoffs, and is even more expendable now that we added Porzingis?

The penalties for going over the 2nd apron aren't *that* bad though, right? And Brad said he has the green light to spend - so maybe?

Worth has nothing to do with it. NBA players get paid.

It's literally we can't use the TPE and can't access buyout guys. Plus any trades we will have to match salary .
