When are we going to hear the final roster for FIBA. Really curious who remains in and who's out.

Doubt the final roster is announced untill a few days before the WC starts.

I can tell you to expect 20+ guys at camp, which will include Winter Core guys and a couple NBA players not part of the core (Mathurin/Nembhard most likely). They will take 15-16 to the European exhibition tour and we won't have a final 12 until a few days before the WC.

Note: This was from Mke Bartlett on the CanadaHoops Podcast many weeks back and pre-Jordi hiring. So they could change things up.

Camp attendees likely get announced in 3 to 4 weeks.

Just to let you guys know, since you are always wondering about the availability of Canadian players in Europe, especially for qualification rounds - Euro media is reporting that the EuroLeague has agreed to stop its season during the FIBA windows, and to have their teams allow any of their players to leave their clubs and go compete with their national teams, during those windows.

So, if that is indeed true, then that means that players from EuroLeague, EuroCup and FIBA Champions League could all be available to their national teams at any time now. So this could definitely affect those national teams with weaker talent pools that were greatly benefitting from the current system, like Czech Republic, Poland, etc. While on the other hand, it definitely helps the teams with the bigger talent pools.

And for those that might have any interest in European club basketball in general, they are also saying that they want to merge the EuroCup and FIBA BCL into one huge secondary European league, perhaps within the next couple of seasons. That's also a quite interesting development if it's true.

The camp attendee list should be announced today betweeen Global Jam games.

Should be about 20ish names. 15-16 will travel to Europe for the exibitions. 12 make the final roster.

Almost certain SGA, NAW, KO, Barrett, Powell will there. That seems a really nice floor starting five no matter what else happens.
But I'm excited to see what happens with Murray, Brooks and if any of the outsiders join - Nembhard, Mathurin, Lyles, Boucher and yes...even the slight chance of Wiggins

It'll be interesting to see how they handle the commitments players made if they have to make roster decisions. For example, Khem Birch and Oshae Brissett were committed players, but I'm not sure that anyone would take them over Mathurin, Lyles or Boucher right now.

It probably won't get to the point where they actually have to make those decisions, and there will be enough rosters spots to go around, but if it came to it, will Team Canada keep to its guarantee that those guys have locked down roster spots? I think they have to, but it would be a shame if someone like Mathurin decided he wanted to play, and got squeezed out of the roster because of it.

I really dont think Khem Birch is in any shape to play. So you won't need to worry about that one.
I'm quite skeptical about Lyles and/or Boucher. Maybe one of them...

Nembhard and Mathurin I feel pretty good about joining. I think they get a hall pass as they were not invited in the first place and didn;t turn the committment down. I think they are treated as part of the Core 14 (now 16).

I think almost all of the Core 14 will be included in today's announcement (less Birch) Plus most of Nembhard, Mathurin, P + T Scrubb, Wiltjer, Alexander & Robertson. But there will be some guys that fall off during camp due to injury, thus opening some spots and then no one really gets "cut" (publicly at least) as some other excuse is given.

We'll see who ends up out for the final roster but tbh, this is about as-expected as you can get. The 5 add-ons were the likeliest imo - didn't expect any additional remaining nbaers.

About as good as you can get it for now. Looking forward to the cuts.

Hopefully Jamal Murray hasn't just "committed to camp" and is actually playing. I know Blake Murphy is saying all of the names listed have committed to playing if they make the team, but I just don't want to get my hopes up. I've been burned by Canada basketball too many times.

Screw Wiggins man. No excuse not to play considering he sat out half the year for personal stuff.

The main concern I see with that roster is frontcourt depth - thin after Powell and Olynyk. But the prospect of SGA and Murray is very exciting, and can take them on a deep run.

Would absolutely love to see a back court of SGA and Murray. But will be a question whether he plays after the finals run.

Wow, might Brooks actually play? Do we need both him and Dort who bring such similar games but not shooting?

What's with Boucher? Just not good enough?
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I think we're probably going to see Edey on the team for that reason alone.

I don't see any NBA-calibre knockdown shooters on the team except Murray. Could be an issue with FIBA...at least we can just have Zach Edey camp in the paint on D

Jon Jones vs Zach Edey. Who you got?

I agree. Assuming everyone on the list shows up and stays healthy, I think Olynk, Powell, Alexander and Edey are pretty much locks, with T. Scrubb, Ejim, and Brissett fighting it out for one spot.
