This time it’s different. It’s just about getting the ducks in a row. Our assets aren’t total trash, despite what the talking heads would want you to believe. What makes a guy like Brogdon more valuable than a 23yr old Tyler Herro?

agreed

all the signs are pointing to it getting done, i believe pat has this one

just would be nice to know what is the hold up

My guess? Haggling over draft compensation & assets on the BKN side perhaps. The Pat Riley I know wouldn't get stingy over a Caleb Martin/Jovic.....neither of whom I think we need to move in the 1st place but who knows.

Spurs probably getting in to take Nurkic or Duncan maybe both

If they took both they would need to send out salaries. My guess is they move one of their smaller salary players and then absorb about 14mil of the cap room. Miami probably sends them our last two 2nd rounders to do that like we did with OKC and Oladipo.

Yeah i could definitely see them swapping Collins expiring for Nurkic. They need a tougher center for Wemby.

How do you guys come up with stuff?

Why would Boston offer up their 26 year old co-star and a “pick or two”
The Blazers do not have 3 players better than Herro at his position, that is just comedy. If it was true, they’d be able to flip at least 2 of them for a star…hell, maybe for Jaylen. But see point above.
Dame doesn’t want to play in Boston and even IF he did, that still would not make them some juggernaut we cant beat again.

Let me add one more key question to the doom and gloomers that latch onto anything that has a semblance of not being positive for the heat:

What is the value for a rebuilding team to give up assets to acquire Jaylen Brown as a 1-year rental before he hits free agency?

And don’t say he likely gave the OK on a commitment to extend with that team. Brown was desperate to be All-NBA to be eligible for a super max extension. He’s not going to willingly facilitate a trade from Boston that eliminates his ability to make an additional ~$90M just to help Boston get another player.

Everyone speaking of Brown as a trade chip is just participating in surface level musings with little merit.

Bill Simmons came up with it last night on his part 1 podcast.

People seem to forget that Lillard is extremely loyal and was absolutely around and probably hated when I.Thomas gave all he had while injured in the playoffs for the Celtics and they dumped him that offseason for Kyrie.

I wouldve kept the 3rd pick too. I would trade Lillard as well. Id take what I could get and move on. Was not a good match.

I was thinking that but POR may opt to take Mamukelshvili cheap expiring contract which gets them more money now rather than Sochan. Feel like SAS would value him too much to just be a throw in. SAS shouldn't have to provide any incentives in this deal if they are absorbing that salary.

Likelihood that this may cost us Jaquez and Jovic but we may well come away with Finney-Smith as well as Lillard. BKN need to provide the salaries to match. Finney-Smith, O'Neale and a FRP for Herro. Then we send Lowry, O'Neale's and Mamukelshvili's expiring's Jovic, Jaquez, 3FRPs.

POR get Lowry, O'Neale, Jovic, Jaquez, Mamu, 3FRP's and 1FRP swap and save 17.4mil this season.

Either that or we take O'Neale and POR take Finney-Smith but only get 13mil cap space and Miami get 7.4mil.

That would free up our ability to use the MLE and sign some Vet Min guys.

DFS is too valuable for BK I don’t see him included. O’Neale on the other hand and his partial guarantee takes money off books instantly so he’ll work for any team. Maybe even us.

They want 2 1st for DFS, 1 1st for O'Neal, basically the value they gave up getting them, doesn't mean they will get that now that it's a year down the road.

Who else they planning to use to match Tyler's salary? Dinwiddie, Claxton or Simmons the only other options. They aren't moving Claxton. If they move Dinwiddie then Simmons or Dennis Smith Jr is their starting PG and I just don't see them making Simmons' 37mil work in this deal that would benefit POR much more than this.

Lol @ these ESPN/ NBAtv morons. They are absolutely terrified of the prospect of Dame joining the Heat, and are painting every other scenario under the sun as to where he might end up. They conveniently ignore tho that a) Dame specifically requested the Heat, and b) None of these other teams mentioned are gonna be in a hurry to bring in a borderline disgruntled player who does not want to be there, especially at his price. Stay hating tho, national media.

Maybe I'm delusional but seeing Blazers fans talk about how they have all the leverage and can just wait for the deadline is insane to me. Imagine if Dame got hurt lol

Return to Miami Heat
