1-year rental is very different. I bet Kawhi would have sought out his next point of leverage to control his destination if it wasn't just a 1-year rental. Plus the acquiring team takes on even more risk bc it costs more when the player is under contract for multiple years.

Its kind of different when your on a one year rental, You play out your year and GTFO. Toronto risked it and got a championship out of it and still couldn't retain him after the fact, so winning a championship doesn't even earn you enough kudos to keep a player of his caliber. In this case Lillard still has 4 years left on his contract. If Kawhi had 4 years left on his contract he would be playing out his contract in Toronto or traded elsewhere at his mid point if he pouted enough, Toronto may have repeated or rebuilt around that team.

Correct which is why Miami taking the least "valuable" first from BKN (2025 PHX pick) allows them to throw more picks to POR down the line.

We’re getting this done fellas, it sucks to wait because we want every available piece left to fill out the roster but it’s going to happen! Would’ve loved to get in a room with Pat Bev Lopez and Gordon had we got this done on like draft night or something.

I want this done before Wood signs so we can make a run at him. Hell be a nice boost, preferably off the bench

Lol. You think Haynes needs Dame’s permission to do his job?

Of course not unless he still wants to get exclusives from Lillard.

The fact that you guys are honestly insinuating Dame is going to cut Haynes off for saying other teams are calling Portland about him is comical. This is what NBA teams do when a star is on the market. Every offseason people act like this is their first time around the rodeo.

It unlocks 2024 but what else? I don’t think the Heat 2024 is worth much to the Blazers since it will probably be very late. Better off just taking the pick from BK.

The pick goes to Miami and they keep it to unlock 2024/2026/2028/2030

2026 is tied up in stipulations to OKC. Even if they did get a 2025 if not mistaken. They could trade 2024 and even if OKC rolls pick to 2026 that still means only 2024, 2028, and 2030 are the only tradeables

3 or 4 team deals are super elaborate and there's a lot of players involved/big money switching salary caps/several pick stipulations. It's going to take a while for it all to get approved if they move forward with it. It isn't just throwing it into a trade machine and getting "SUCCESS" spit back at them.

We need this done today, before other teams convince themselves to trade for Dame anyway, and gamble that he will be a good soldier and wont turn malcontent

I think Pat knows the urgency of this trade before something crazy happens to ruin it.

The hold up is probably from the other teams involved in the multi team trade

Cut off completely, no, may withhold some info from him, absolutely. There's no telling what info Hayes has that's never has been mentioned. Loyalty seems to be important to Lillard and I'm sure Haynes has been loyal to him and with that has insights that he's never mentioned.

Who’s to say dame doesn’t ask for a trade on the next team either? He clearly wants Miami, no other option.

Not a starter in any western postseason team.

Hes a sixth man getting paid like a starter.

Yet this "bum" is supposed to be the central piece in a Dame Lillard trade and wondering what's taking so long? You can't denigrate a player at every opportunity then flip it that he's worth being the only piece worth a damn in a superstar trade? Make it make sense.

Well the blazers have no use for him and don’t view him as better than any of their guards and now Brooklyn is saying they want picks to take him on. We need you on the phone asap talking to Brooklyn to sell them on the importance of adding Devin Booker 2.0+ to their roster after the success Mikal already had next to Booker

Brooklyn knows we're desperate and they have ZERO incentive to help us. We're in their conference and view themselves as a borderline playoff team. If they can leave us as Dame/Bam/Jimmy and absolute garbage without a pick til 2030, it's in their best interest to do so

On Part 2 of Bill Simmons' podcast last night... now that Herro looks to be on the way out from Miami Simmons' is talking better about him somewhere around the 1:10-1:13 minute mark of the podcast.
