“But Miami could trade its 2024 first-round pick if the Heat can convince Oklahoma City to allow Miami to change its conditional 2025 pick owed the Thunder to a 2026 unconditional pick.“

Why hasn’t this been considered?

The pick goes to Miami and they keep it to unlock 2024/2026/2028/2030

2026 is tied up in stipulations to OKC. Even if they did get a 2025 if not mistaken. They could trade 2024 and even if OKC rolls pick to 2026 that still means only 2024, 2028, and 2030 are the only tradeables

You are right. Possible they can offer a switch up of picks with OKC to manipulate which picks get moved but getting 2025 pick from BKN still opens up a 1st for them to move which is still certainly beneficial.

It's been a consistent point of consideration for over a year now.

I wonder if Embiid told the 76ers to not trade him and that's what makes him untradable.

Well the blazers have no use for him and don’t view him as better than any of their guards and now Brooklyn is saying they want picks to take him on. We need you on the phone asap talking to Brooklyn to sell them on the importance of adding Devin Booker 2.0+ to their roster after the success Mikal already had next to Booker

Brooklyn knows we're desperate and they have ZERO incentive to help us. We're in their conference and view themselves as a borderline playoff team. If they can leave us as Dame/Bam/Jimmy and absolute garbage without a pick til 2030, it's in their best interest to do so

Exactly. Each team trying to maximize their own returns. As they should do. Miami is the only team that needs this done soon. The other two can drag this out to gain more leverage and force Miami to give up everything. Miami can quicken the process by putting all their assets on the table but that wouldn't be wise considering Dame's age. The relationship between Dame and Blazers FO seems fractured so I wouldn't be shocked if they drag out as much as possible even if in the end he's traded to Miami

I don't know OKC's mindset but it certainly would make sense to want Miami to just change the pick from the 2025 protected pick to one that is unprotected a year later. Not sure if that's something that happens though.

It seems like the 3-4 teams involved here are POR-MIA-BKN-SAS

Paul : "Hello, is this Pat? This is CEO of Klutch Sports, Rich Paul. Long time."

There you go

1-year rental is very different. I bet Kawhi would have sought out his next point of leverage to control his destination if it wasn't just a 1-year rental. Plus the acquiring team takes on even more risk bc it costs more when the player is under contract for multiple years.

Its kind of different when your on a one year rental, You play out your year and GTFO. Toronto risked it and got a championship out of it and still couldn't retain him after the fact, so winning a championship doesn't even earn you enough kudos to keep a player of his caliber. In this case Lillard still has 4 years left on his contract. If Kawhi had 4 years left on his contract he would be playing out his contract in Toronto or traded elsewhere at his mid point if he pouted enough, Toronto may have repeated or rebuilt around that team.

That only works if one goes full Ben Simmons, look at him now and the consequences of his actions. Also you are neglecting that the risk reward justifies the move for many teams. If what we are offering is seen as trash by many around the league, it doesnt take much or any real effort to beat that by many teams. The Jazz could easily go for it with the armada of picks they have. The comic irony of getting a better player than Donovan for a fraction of a price to team up with Markkanaen. Oh and the icing on the cake is it bleep Pat. Yeah he is really going to pass up that opportunity lol. The 76ers and the Clippers can offer a ton of expiring and just out of spite the Blazers owner could make those moves. Look like we have reaches the point where it's at a personal level, the ok im going to Bleep you back for this betrayal. Thats where logic and common sense leave the room and petty grudges rule supreme.

It will be telling who plays in the Heat's summer league game tonight.

If they are close to a deal, can't see anyone who may be involved playing.

JJJ just signed his contract so he can’t even be traded for 30 days

ESPN pundits are working real hard to push the Philly angle. ESPN is insufferable. I remember a time back in the pre-Lebron era that I would pay for ESPN insider. Either I was more stupid or they were way better back then.

someone posted an Ira Winderman interview last night, about how Pat is negotiating. Pat is doing the right thing, coming in good faith to get Dame here as quick as possible to avoid all this drama.

The hold up is not Pat.

If you need some confirmation that the Heat are doing everything we can to get Dame here... watch this interview
