This is the beginning of a new era, an era of greatness where the offense is led by a true elite 3 level scorer while Jimmy and Bam wreak havoc everywhere on our way to the championship. Our greatest team in a decade, the greatest big 3 in the league.

It all starts here, this is only the beginning. Stay tuned.

Let's talk Thomas Bryant.

My initial impression: He's a long and somewhat skilled offensive finisher known for poor defense and a low bball IQ. He was available for the minimum and wasn't in Denver's playoff rotation for a reason.

BUT, I believe the real reason the Heat targeted Bryant was untapped upside.

Potential Strengths

- Scoring
- Spot up 3-point shooting (see article link above)
- Mid range shooting
- Rim finisher
- Capable as a rim protector (see article link above)
- Capable rebounder

Areas of Concern
- Passing (he's a black hole)
- Team defense
- Perimeter defense
- BBIQ
- Health
- Athleticism

Fit with Miami

His clear fit with Miami is as a backup center allowing for another source of offensive finishing from the bench. In theory, this can even open up 5-out looks when he's in the game--as he seems to be a capable spot-up shooter. I'm concerned if the Heat try to have him replicate too much of what Bam does in our system as he doesn't seem to be a capable as a switching defender (or team defender) and he definitely lacks the chops to facilitate an offense. He's another big body, but can he defend in the Miami system? I expect him to get the best coaching and development of his career this offseason, but I think role will also be very important. Which leads to the things I'm most curious about.

He will have to develop defensively in Spo's system. At the least his athletic range and ability can be used in limited doses for an injection of offense to a stagnant shooting set.

Wild card elements

Can he play with Bam? At this point it seems like a stretch, but if Miami has a vision to limit his defensive role with an aim to keep him off the ball (on a corner shooter serving as help defense at the rim), then maybe he can serve the role filled by the likes of Robert Williams with Boston and Brook Lopez with Milwaukee. He has the wingspan and he doesn't seem as slow-footed as guys like Yurt and Meyers Leonard.

Will he do the dirty work? We need him to be a smart and effective screener, box out, and play the team game. Will he buy into that?

What do you all think? If anyone has more insight on his game, background, upside, role I'd love to hear it.

Can he play with Bam? Is that even a relevant question at this point? We will find out in practice...if he gets there.

However, just a month ago Heat were being called frauds, Cinderella story turned pumpkins blah blah blah and now all of sudden you'd think MJ in his prime was demanding to go to Lakers with Magic and old man Kareem and Worthy. It's hilarious

It’s honestly hilarious. Beal joins Booker KD and Ayton for peanuts and they sign a **** ton of good role players and not a word, Harden rumored to be going to the Clippers and everyone’s hyping up how awesome that big 3 may be but let the 8th seed that was 3 minutes away from missing the playoffs get Dame and all hell breaks loose

i think thats the best chess move of this whole offseason. beal went for expirings even tho he has the NTC everbody reacted like they got him for peanuts and he is younger than Dame and as far as accolades neither won an MVP. the hypocrisy is in full display how we went from the lucky 8th seed to now Dame forcing his way to a superteam?

I dont think

Herro (flipped for 2 1sts)
Lowry (flipped or bought out)
Jovic
Martin
2 1sts
2 2nds
+ Pick swaps

+ getting off Nurk contract

Is that egregious of a deal For the league to flip their **** over.

Martin isn’t a good piece in a trade but the lakers are geniuses for signing Gabe Vincent?

Yes, I’d say it’s one of the most relevant questions of the offseason additions to date.

It unlocks a ton if Bryant has enough rim protection and mobility to play help defender while covering the corner 3.

I’m skeptical, but intrigued

The conclusion of this whole fiasco should fall on my shoulders one way or another. No new thread unless mods want to test the gods that be whk have not rewarded us in 4 years with a star regardless of all the rumors and 1000s of pages we’ve posted.

I’m the one who’s pushed the Dame to Miami narrative to Miami the last 2 years while being stoned by the masses for speaking my mind on it and I’ve held true through thick and thin. Whether it’s Dame coming here or arguably Pat Riley’s biggest blunder of his career, it should fall on my wide strong shoulders.

Let’s get Dame this year and then trade Bam for Embiid next year.
Embiid, Jovic, Butler, Richardson, Lillard

Of course he doesn't. Why wouldn't he come up with some logic to try to get the team that stopped his team from making the finals 2 of the last 4 years from acquiring the nearly perfect offensive piece to go with Butler and Bam. It was weird that he had nearly no issue with Phoenix getting KD nor Beal since those moves weakened the teams in the Eastern Conference. He'd rather Philly gets Lillard since he's not too worried about them.
