Just trade Scottie and lets put a high quality team out for the next 3 seasons

Portland should send him to whoever is giving them the best offer. Dame doesn't have a no-trade clause, and is signed longterm. Obviously teams will bid accordingly because he's asked out with one preferred destination, but they shouldn't be forced to take a garbage offer from Miami.

Wouldn’t really be opposed compared to this 10th seed garbage we are stuck in, Scottie is a good young talent but he will never be an elite one that can carry a franchise to a title, not in this league

To get this deal done, you need two things:

  1. The ability to put together a quality package of assets, and get it circa $45 million
  2. A team that's ready to compete at a very high level right now with Lillard, minus those assets
I think that's a very short list of teams that can do both. Tanking teams can do #1 but not #2, and the best teams can do #2 but not #1.

Who better than the Raptors?

Better to keep Scottie and build around your young guys. Move Siakam if you need to, find a starting pg (not Schroeder you will hate him) and get back into the playoffs.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

The media treats all these stars like they have the same personality and values when it comes to the trade requests - I.e like they will always sit out if they don't get their way.

Dame just publicly said he is always the one to take the high road (in his working relationship with blazers). There have been lots of reports of his high character.

So even if he has made this request, and doesn't get traded to the Heat, he doesn't seem like the guy to sit out during the season.

Well then the only play for Cronin is to sit Dame until they get a trade from Miami they like. They are good at sitting Dame. Just pretend it is post deadline to start the season.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Normally I’d side with team and contract

But in this case, I don’t think Cronin and Co were acting in good faith. They should have been upfront last year or definitely this year that they wanted to go young.

I think Dame got jerked around. That just my opinion.

League has to find a way to put an end to players just picking the team they want to go to. The fact these requests are even a thing is ridiculous.

Totally side with Dame. It’s the Heat that haven’t acted in good faith either

Riley is the biggest snake in the league. I have no doubt in my mind that he has relayed multiple messages to Dame in the last week or so. The worst part of all, for us fans of other teams, is that this trade will go through.

Bosh to Miami circulated long before Lebron’s Decision.
Heat got a slap on the wrist for tampering with Lowry.
Excuse me if I am suspicious that Riley & Co. are in Dame’s ear.

He did. Cronin played it. But I dont like giving them 1 team and then saying you wont be professional anywhere else. That's not right in my eyes.

There is nothing to suspect lol. Of course Riley is in his ear. This is the way he operates.

It's more up to the GMs I think to take a stand and trade for these players and call their bluffs. If this pattern continues, it's not going to matter which team building approach you take, because any player who becomes a star could just request a trade to the team they're choosing. Imagine this happening with Scottie, or if we do tank and the star that we developed requesting a trade to leave the organization. Organizations are going to have to break the cycle.
