It's absurd to think that the Blazers should take less in a deal because of some loyalty BS to Dame.

My favorite part of these potential super star trades is when you hear things like "Dame wants to go to Miami, Miami wants Dame but the two sides were unwilling to come to an agreement because Miami wouldn't add Caleb Martin and Nikola Jovic to their trade offer".

But don't you see how loyal he's been by agreeing to play with Portland for 40+ million dollars per year?

I could definitely understand the whole reward loyalty stuff if Dame gave them a list of like 4-6 teams, at least then you could have something resembling a bidding war and gives Portland real options. But this “Heat-or-bust stance” that’s been reported is some bull **** by Dame.

This. There's a middle ground in all this. Like yeah don't do the guy dirty and send him someplace he absolutely doesn't want to go but he has to play ball and give the blazers some options too.

Also Portland is dumb for not getting this **** figured out before the draft/free agency.

What if that team is offering five first round picks and the next best offer is three?

Depends which team and years. Like will the team fall apart in the next few years so those picks could be awesome? Or is it Miami or LAL offering the picks where it’s doubtful they are ever a super bad team?

Specifically if I'm Portland I'd take the 5 because NBA players already don't want to come to Portland. Other markets should probably approach it differently.

Usually it's all kind of a moot point since teams typically don't offer a **** ton for a guy they know doesn't want to be there.

I actually think all the offers for Dame right now are probably a little lighter than Portland would like and that holds this up more than anything else.

Less than a quarter into the first summer league game and I remember why I should never get excited for this

So if Dame actually forces his way to Miami then Portland is getting Herro, Martin, Jovic, JJJ and all their picks possible right? Obviously he wants the team to commit to him, right?

Kinda bizarre to go to Suns where he is behind Beal, Booker and Durant. He would be fighting for minutes here with Allen and Beauchamp.

I think I saw somewhere it was cause of more $$$. 2/6 with player option on year 2 vs minimum with the Bucks.

Miami wants him for nothing. In anyother scenerio a herro/robinson package wont get you any superstar back so if they get dame with that puke package ill be pissed.

Edit now you throw in martin or bam whole different ball game.
Miami gets him riley will look like a genious when it was more the portland gm looking like a knob

That's what gets me though. Dame can bitch and moan about Portland not using their assets around him but when it comes to getting traded to a team he's expecting to go to a fully loaded team for nothing. If I'm Portland I'm telling Miami that I want literally everything they have.

Well I guess they should cultivate the worst reputation they possibly can then.

I think they just need to thread the needle between honoring his request and doing him dirty.

There's no threading the needle here, really. The only leverage Dame has is to tell other teams that he won't report and hope that they won't call his bluff.

Frankly, I doubt Dame will put up a huge fuss if he's traded to Brooklyn for their haul of picks.
