This is starting to approach ridiculous for a 2 year window. Some of these combinations don't even make basketball sense. Ben Simmons? Really? Micky wasn't paying huge tax for the big 3, we probably have 1 year for this to prove itself or it's blow it up.

I'm down for a Simmons reclamation. There's a risk obviously but there's a massive reward if he can manage to return to past form. If being the word but if anyone can do it it's our coaching staff, I'm down for a Tyler, Duncan out for Simmons and picks in or whatever

Problem is, the blazers have to take on Robinson, which is a huge negative. Otherwise it's actually a decent deal for the blazers, which has been very tough to find in the media

I think we've basically got a deal done. Cronin and Portland FO just dragging this out trying to save face with the fanbase and act like he's trying to find the best possible deal.

According to Blazers guys, they are saying that's been his M.O the whole time. Said he was building around Dame but did the opposite, said he was going to try trade the 3rd pick to get Dame more help.

Apparently Dame had convinced Jaylen Brown to come to Portland but Portland avoided having any talks with Boston because they didn't want to trade their pick and pay Jaylen Brown. The GM and ownership wanted to rebuild and just pretended they were doing stuff for Dame and they wanted Dame to be the guy to ask out so they don't look like the bad guys.

Our offer should be 3 picks + Herro (worth another pick or 2) + Martin (worth a pick to a contender) + Lowry (can be flipped for more picks for a bad contract at trade deadline) + 2 swaps.

That's beyond a fair deal for a 33 YO guard making tons of money AFTER declaring he only wants to play for us.

We keep Jovic and JJJ, their inclusion will make this a bad deal for us at that point.

You offer this and live with the results. Let's see the Blazers get a better offer from some other team and paint themselves as the most ungrateful organization in the league.

That's really the thing here. If we get Portland 4FRPs and expiring contracts, I really don't see other teams around the league competing with that especially if Philly aren't offering Maxey. Philly aren't getting 3 additional picks for James Hardens expiring. Plus I do not buy another team with tons of picks like Utah, San Antonio or NYK coming in and offering 5FRPs if Dame's adamantly telling them I don't want to play for you. This going to end up being Herro, Lowry, Jovic, our 2FRPs and likely 2FRP swaps and they'll use Herro to get them 2 more picks

Give then another pick (unlock OKC) and keep Jovic.

Agree that no other team is going to give Blazers some historic amazing value for a 33YO PG that doesn't want to play for said team.

The proposed Philly trade right now for Lillard probably looks something like this.

LACs get - Harden and Tucker
PHI get - Lillard
POR get - Powell, Morris and Covington/Batum and 2-3FRPS (2029 from PHI and up to 2 from LACs 2028 and 2030)

Then maybe they throw a bunch of 2nd rounders if they get desperate.

This is basically us sending Lowry, Robinson and Herro to a 3rd team for 2 more FRPs

Is this the Spurs giving up a first round pick and expirings for Ben Simmons? That is not how Ben Simmons trades work in 2023

This one doesn’t make sense to me. Don’t see the blazers taking on three guys they already had and a group of turned the corner nba vets altogether

It would have to be the Nets giving up 1 first to get off Simmons while getting Herro. I don't really agree that Herro is worth half a first round pick but the Nets will try to pretend that getting off of Simmons and getting Herro isn't worth giving up two. So realistically the Blazers in this deal are getting three.

This makes me think if all we are bidding against right now is Philly/LACs package, then we could be offering something much less.

I'm also curious how BKN are going to match Herro's salary, because really the only 2 options are DFS and O'Neale and taking a 3.5mil cap hit or Dinwiddie and O'Neale and save 2.8mil. I'd also wonder who would be going where in that scenario.

Portland get - Lowry, Jovic, Robinson, Birch 4FRPs 2FRP swaps 5.3mil cap room.
BKN get - Herro
MIA get - Lillard, DFS and O'Neale
SA get - Nurkic, two MIA 2nd rounders

Or

Portland get - Lowry, Jovic, Robinson, Birch 4FRPs 2FRP swaps 5.3mil cap room.
BKN get - Herro
MIA get - Lillard, Dinwiddie and O'Neale
SA get - Nurkic, two MIA 2nd rounders

This is probably where they are at but BKN feel like they should get some compensation for taking Herro.

This is why I don't think POR would like this deal without getting Maxey. But this is basically what Philly are looking at receiving for Harden and they'd prefer to try flip that with picks for Lillard but ultimately won't get it done without Maxey and if your Philly trading Harden, Maxey, Tucker and picks for Lillard probably becomes too expensive.
