SAS swapping Birch and 9.8mil cash for Nurkic and our 2 2nd rounders would be essentially the same trade we made with OKC for Oladipo only difference being length of contract and one player being injured as apposed to useable.

If you Portland and your trading the Heat for the best assets you would have to be a idiot not to take Jovic. Him Scott/Sharpe/Grant would be a super fun team to watch (not a good team off course).

Jovic has some off the court issues, wouldn't be a good fit for what Portland is trying to build.

IDK man Simmons can't shoot like at all, how is that gonna fit with Bam and Jimmy. He also just seems like the type of player with a IDGAF about basketball attitude and just likes collecting checks and sitting courtside in dumba** fashion wardrobes. I get why youd consider it but personally I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. Just not a winning Heat culture type player. And I don't think Butler likes him from their Philly days (no proof just a hunch). Anyways just my 2 cents...

The more I think about taking on Ben Simmons, the more I like it in the big picture. Meaning if we were to make it to the finals, matching up defensively with Denver for example would be much more solid:

Aarom Gordon - Ben Simmons
M.Porter JR- Caleb Martin
J. Murray - Jimmy/J Rich
KCP Jr - Dame
Joker - Bam/Bryant

As far as offense. Here is what the shot distribution looked like in game 5 for example:

Heat Total shots taken: 96

Bam 20
Jimmy 18
Gabe 13
Strus 12
Lowry 13
Caleb 9

Rest of team 11

If we distributed the shots like this, offensively we could be ok.
Based on the idea of 100 shots:

Bam 15
Jimmy 20
Dame 20
Caleb 12
Simmons 5
J Rich 8
Love 5

Rest of Team 15

In a 7 game series this is a formidable matchup.

I'm also curious how BKN are going to match Herro's salary, because really the only 2 options are DFS and O'Neale and taking a 3.5mil cap hit or Dinwiddie and O'Neale and save 2.8mil. I'd also wonder who would be going where in that scenario.

Portland get - Lowry, Jovic, Robinson, Birch 4FRPs 2FRP swaps 5.3mil cap room.
BKN get - Herro
MIA get - Lillard, DFS and O'Neale
SA get - Nurkic, two MIA 2nd rounders

Or

Portland get - Lowry, Jovic, Robinson, Birch 4FRPs 2FRP swaps 5.3mil cap room.
BKN get - Herro
MIA get - Lillard, Dinwiddie and O'Neale
SA get - Nurkic, two MIA 2nd rounders

This is probably where they are at but BKN feel like they should get some compensation for taking Herro.

This looks somewhat realistic, but I doubt that Nets are paying 2 FRPs in this scenario. I'd say this would be more realistic if the Heat add JJJ and it's only 1 FRP from the Nets.

I can't believe you guys are talking about taking back a basket case on a max contract.

Im starting to believe that Ben is the centerpiece of this deal. Getting Dame is just an added bonus.

Gables too. Used to work in that area, a ton of condo buildings have been built in the last few years.

I can see the appeal. Only two seasons left on his deal and the confidence that he can be restored to being a productive player. Personally I wouldn't go for it but I understand why some people would.

Just watched the game.

Jovic looks stronger
Jaime has a sweet form on the jumper
Bouya has some real potential. Man looks 60 years old but I like him

That's a $38 million hole in your cap that may quit at any moment. He isn't the player that he used to be and can't be counted on to even show up. We have fans complain about Bam's salary and he's pretty good even when he doesn't play well.

Somehow every offseason people on here end up talking about bringing Ben Simmons to Miami. Makes me sick lol

Looks like we cant trade Jovic or Jaquez now that weve seen them blow up SL. Portlands offer shrinking by the day.

I don't disagree. If his issues were only physical and not mental I'd be more open to give him a shot. He presents the same issues Kyrie does but on a much worse player who has one foot out the league. Even at his best he's a questionable fit basketball-wise since he can't shoot. At least Kyrie can ball and fit, this guy is nearly finished. But people have supreme confidence in our coaching staff and culture and think "we can fix him".

Forget Brooklyn. Is there no other team to include, that doesn't have an agenda to unload their problem child?
