As i said previously, i fully expect the dame talks to continue up to the deadline.. he will be a blazer on opening day. And it wouldnt shock me if some team trades for him despite his wishes

The what deadline? If it came that close to the start of the season Riley would pull the plug on talks just like he did when Jimmy was in Minnesota, this crap isn't going into the regular season.

I'll bet good money that Dame is not on POR's opening day roster. This gets figured out this off-season.

Portland isn't going to start the season focused on development with Dame stinking up the team lol. You'd basically be punting a year of development by having that drama hang over your team.

I can see the appeal. Only two seasons left on his deal and the confidence that he can be restored to being a productive player. Personally I wouldn't go for it but I understand why some people would.

That's a $38 million hole in your cap that may quit at any moment. He isn't the player that he used to be and can't be counted on to even show up. We have fans complain about Bam's salary and he's pretty good even when he doesn't play well.

I don't disagree. If his issues were only physical and not mental I'd be more open to give him a shot. He presents the same issues Kyrie does but on a much worse player who has one foot out the league. Even at his best he's a questionable fit basketball-wise since he can't shoot. At least Kyrie can ball and fit, this guy is nearly finished. But people have supreme confidence in our coaching staff and culture and think "we can fix him".

Nah... you need those nearly 21 fga going to the younger guys and your top player already told the fanbase he wants out because he doesn't think their team can contend.

Those who still cheer Lillard in Portland may resent the younger guys that were brought in instead of help for their franchise player. It's a PR nightmare to keep him and you may poison some of your fanbase to dislike the young guys.

Can Ben Simmons be fixed sure, will it take a strong organization and support group yes, is Miami capable of it yes, do you want to put so much effort into this endevour as an organization while dealing with championship contention, 2 Alphas in Jimmy and Lillard plus an entire team of players whom need nurturing and supervision to be their best self, absolutely not. The coaching staff may end up commiting sepuku with the same sharpii they use to draw up plays in practice.

We're trying to trade a bag of rocks for an NBA superstar or near superstar. There are only two options. We either convince Portland that our bag of rocks is a bag of gold nuggets, or we're going to have to absorb someone else's junk to secure assets that do interest Portland.

The problem is that our offer has two main components, Tyler Herro and some picks. Tyler isn't nearly good enough to be the centerpiece of a trade for Dame, and our 1st round picks are almost guaranteed to be non-lottery picks. The truth is that if Portland swaps Dame for our assets, the GM should get fired on the spot.

The drama of sending a 33 year old franchise player home so that young guys can get shots up is insanity. Dame will destroy that organization from his couch. There will be nothing left.
